Gwyvern
i have noticed quite a lot of mods that have custom meshes with their own custom textures, and a lot of them somehow manage to keep the same style as vanilla skyrim, i was wondering if there is a trick to this? is there some sort of base materials used for metal/wood/leather etc that you can find somewhere? or is it just godly photoshop skills
Twizzler77
Hey Gwyvern, There is no trick to it. It's a combination of art/skill, shared materials and the rendering system (Unity 3D has a certain look, UDK has a certain look, etc.), and lighting. For me, it comes down to putting something in-game and seeing if it matches what is around it. If it doesn't match well, make the appropriate changes and reimport. Over time, your eye will attune to the engine and you'll start to hit the mark with less trial and error. I really does come down to practice. :)
