Dark Jman
okay my game started crashing early yesterday and i reinstalled it many times and every time it still crashes. it comes on to the start screen and then crash. i got it to work by unchecking all of my mods i had installed from the fallout mod manager. the mods that require archive invalidation work though, its just esp mods that screw up and make it crash. it has never done this before until yesterday and its making me mad because now i cant play with mods. if i check any mods from the mod manager it crashes. if i start fallout any other way it crashes. does anybody have any ideas? DigitalEternal
Crashing before you get to the startscreen seems to be caused by mods, i had the same happen when i tried to use the weight mod and no repair mod together but its strange that it crashes if you use any mods period, have you tried getting rid of the mod manager and just doing it manually? Dark Jman
yeah i have not gotten rid of the mod manager and do them manually but i have just went to my fallout launcher and check them but it still crashes. I just tried some mods and a hair mod worked and so did an ammo name changer mod, along with all mods that have textures but no esp files, but if i choose any others the game crashes. I just dont know whats wrong.
zip2k4
maybe its problem on your game data itself, sometimes you need to install it again, FO3 I meani know i know its a pain in the ass, but if u do not do it now, u'll feel lazy to do it afterwards
Michlo
You have to do what most of us have done at some point. You remove the mods and then add them in one by one until you find which is causing the problem. At that point you give feedback on that specific mod and try to ascertain whether it is a faulty mod which can perhaps be fixed or a conflict with something else. This is why I always keep a copy of my "clean" data directory so I can quickly revert back without a complete uninstall and reinstall if everything goes to hell. Good luck. Dark Jman
it must be something with the mods i guess but i can choose just 2 or 3 and it still crashes. I have reinstalled the game more than 3 times but ill keep trying.
grumbler
Try renaming your Fallout.ini file in the /My games folder and letting FO3 re-write it.
Tycho77
Just on the off chance, try rearranging the mods in your loadorder, for some reason unknown to me, this made me go froma ctd every 2 to 5 minutes, to almost never.
Dark Jman
I got Fallout to work now, I deleted every mod, inserted them back one by one, and found which mod was corrupting my game data. I am so glad I can play the greatest game ever made again, thanks guys for all your suggestions.
