draconix
I think that this mod could potentially be really amazing, and might be easy to do... I have no idea, but I would love this mod. The difficulty would probably be proportioned to the percent of the main quest and guild quests completed. Of course, not everybody wants to join every guild, and most Role Players cannot, but I'm sure the kinks can be worked out, with maybe a dialogue prompted by the use of a ring or something of the sort. Vagrant0
The problem is that the difficulty slider does a rather craptacular job of adjusting difficulty since it is a preset 50% damage to you, 100% damage to you, 200% damage to you, kinda thing. As it suddenly jumps from one point to another, no matter what was used as a basis for deciding when to increase difficulty, there would always be a point where the change is too detrimental to the player's progress at the time, and would often be too sudden of a change. Also, what this does, is that is ends up making the leveled spawns even more annoying. People don't really want things to get progressivly harder as they level, because it doesn't really make much sense for the same rat to require 2 hits at level 3 with an iron dagger, but 50 hits with an ebony claymore at level 30. This is why most of the overhaul type mods try to do away with the leveled spawns, and let the areas themselves dictate how hard they should be. Most like this because it allows them to go looking for a challenge when they feel like it, but still have the option of keeping it easy. These sorts of overhauls also often help prevent that sort of "master of every guild, and champion of the arena, with a level 1 character" kinda situation. What most people want is not some sort of arbitrary increase in difficulty, but for difficulty to remain constant most of the time, with the option of easier, or harder things to keep it interesting. That is something that really can't be done with just the difficulty sliders, automated or not.
