I need opinions on this Nordic Carved set of armor I am currently working on.

NOTE: the gold trim has been removed, it will be replaced with something, I just don't know what yet!

here are the pictures:

No offense, this is a really good texture, but the gold trimmings look a bit like tin foil :/ Just my opinion, everything else looks great though, awesome work, will you fit this onto a female model as well?

I like it - took a bit to grow on me. Maybe even add some more accents on the main armor piece. The ringmail is awesome!

I do enjoy most if not all of your textures in my game. If you're still in the mood for requests - you know those falmer tents and pods and totems? Those look atrocious, even with the high-res DLC. If you could get around to showing those some love sometime, that would be amazing.

If you decide to keep it, I would suggest adding some gold trim elsewhere on the armor as acidzebra mentioned. Maybe on the belt or on the edges of the plates over the midsection? I think that would balance it out and add a more uniform look. Or perhaps tone it down - but that's more personal taste. Clean gold is very bright and shinyshiny, but it might look nice if it were a bit grungy. Otherwise, it's looking good. :)

Benjamin318,

Looks good and I think you should keep the gold accents!

I agree with Rezubi's and Elleh's feedback on the gold. I would suggest the following:

- Reduce the noise in the Diffuse considerably. Lean heavily on your specular map for metal noise.

- Darken the gold in the Diffuse, it looks too bright. This could be the lighting in the shots, though.

- Without seeing your spec map, I would guess you need to brighten it up considerably (This is to balance out the darkening of the DIffuse).

- If you are able to use a cube map, use it conservatively to help sell the reflective quality of gold.

What this will help with is getting contrast into the gold and it'll react much more dynamically to the lights in the world.

Look forward to seeing progress!

Looks good! I think there are far too few lore-friendly steel/iron armor sets. Most of them look like Frankenstein copy/paste jobs from vanilla armor sets. This looks much better. The pauldrons are awesome. I think the fur looks a bit too reddish though, and too flat. If you lowered the contrast a bit and added some lighter/tan highlights it would look better imo.
