BaronObvious
I don't come to the forums all that often, but I use TES Nexus for Oblivion mods all the time. I've found a lot of great stuff here. But there are a few things I can't seem to find. One of which was a mod I had before but can't find again (and stupid me didn't back it up), and another is one that I don't think exists, but very well should. You're gonna see me asking a lot of questions here. I'll separate each subject by paragraph. Firstly, I remember there being a mod that re-works the faces of nearly all of the NPC's in Oblivion, so that they don't look nearly as fugly as they tend to do (I swear every time I see Jensine's sagging cheeks I just want to rend them off). I can't remember the name of it, and I can't find it. Are there any mods that make face-editing easier? Every time I re-start in Oblivion, I always tend to make a female Bosmer thief, but it takes so much work to make her face look not-horrible (I really don't like that apparent cheek-sag that Wood Elves tend to have), and the sliders are hard to use because sliding one slides the others and it just gets frustrating. And I've got another question: I've seen so many files involving "Mystic elves" or "Mystic Night Elves" or whatever (some Warcraft thing I guess), and I've been wanting to try it, but when I search for the initial mod, I can't find it. All of the pages are too vague to tell me if they're the main mod or some tweaked version or something. Which one do I download and use? Another mod was something I got an idea for the other day but haven't seen someone make yet. I was watching my cousin play Fallout 3, and I noticed that when he's over-encumbered, he's still able to walk, but not run. I always have hated being totally unable to move when I'm overencumbered, and its not fair to have to leave my hard-earned loot behind. Is it possible someone could make a mod for Oblivion that allows you to still walk (but not run) for when you're over-encumbered? Voice is another thing. When I play the Bosmer thief girl like I mentioned earlier, I always pull the Age slider all the way to the left, for a young character. However, the way I make her, she doesn't sound her age at all. The generic Elf Female voice gets on my nerves, and I can't find any good replacements. All I find are evil chicks (which would only fit with my evil characters), or anime girl voices (which are too annoying). Are there any decent mods to make female characters sound better? Particularly the Elven races. Something more feminine, but not so high-pitched-girly as to put my nerves to a cheese grater. If possible, it'd be best to only affect the player character, it would be silly to hear a Wood/High/Dark Elf woman speak to me in that older generic voice and then make the younger voices when attacking me. It would be as silly as the way the beggers switch from addling elder voices to dignified accents in the middle of their dialogue. I realize I've asked for a lot here, and I'm sure I won't get everything, but any info would be greatly appreciated.
myrmaad
Hey SQM, I don't think these questions are so stupid, after all. Firstly, I remember there being a mod that re-works the faces of nearly all of the NPC's in Oblivion, so that they don't look nearly as fugly as they tend to do (I swear every time I see Jensine's sagging cheeks I just want to rend them off). There's one that adds the numbers but it's still hard. It's best to import a face you like or have previously created and then tweak to make the new look. Wrye Bash has a very easy face import tool, and if you search my username and import or wrye you should find a detailed tutorial on how to use it. It's actually quite simple once you get know how. Chargen with NumbersWrye BashAnd I've got another question: I've seen so many files involving "Mystic elves" or "Mystic Night Elves" or whatever (some Warcraft thing I guess), and I've been wanting to try it, but when I search for the initial mod, I can't find it. All of the pages are too vague to tell me if they're the main mod or some tweaked version or something. Which one do I download and use? I suggest you probably want to search the nexus files with advanced search, and select CATEGORY: RACES, CLASSES AND BIRTHSIGNSand just "Mystic" (no quotes) in the Filename. Another mod was something I got an idea for the other day but haven't seen someone make yet. I was watching my cousin play Fallout 3, and I noticed that when he's over-encumbered, he's still able to walk, but not run. Is it possible someone could make a mod for Oblivion that allows you to still walk (but not run) for when you're over-encumbered? That's a good idea. Probably, many people tend to use the Bag of Wonders, and Bag of Holding mods, and tend to not think about it, so it may not even have been suggested before. Voice is another thing. When I play the Bosmer thief girl like I mentioned earlier, I always pull the Age slider all the way to the left, for a young character. However, the way I make her, she doesn't sound her age at all. It would be as silly as the way the beggers switch from addling elder voices to dignified accents in the middle of their dialogue. The voices tend to be a problem, don't they. Not easily solved, I have to give Kudos to Bethesda for even having the cajones to have put it out there for us, since so many have such negative feelings about it. Also, I rarely have ever heard my own character talk. Only once, when I duplicated her. I'd personally rather have the voice acting, and practice my suspension of disbelief (otherwise called 'giving imagination a workout'). It rarely bothers me, even the beggars. I have a real good imagination. :D I realize I've asked for a lot here, and I'm sure I won't get everything, but any info would be greatly appreciated.Hope I helped out a little. BaronObvious
Ah, thanks a lot! I believe the face pack you linked to is different from the one I originally had, but this should be just fine (Being a straight male, I don't give a damn how ugly the men are). I've just installed Wrye Bash and when I have more time I'll look up how to use it. If I knew anything about modding at all, I would certainly try to make the over-encumberance mod, but I've not a clue how to mod and probably better off not messing with anything. So I just hope someone with the right skills will see the idea and make it. I don't really care about how my character speaks, I just want her vocal effects (y'know, grunts and cries in battle, or taking damage) to sound not so un-fitting. Dialogue is only important in that the regular NPC's don't use the same vocal effects in combat as my character. I found a download for the mystic night elves, which are included among five other races in one pack. It requires Fantasy Figures and Robert Male, but I can't find either of those in advanced search. Thanks for your help though! And I assure you, my name Stupid Question Man has nothing to do with myself asking dumb questions, its the name of a superhero character in a comic book I'm working on (unrelated to Oblivion). rondivu
If you're looking for huge changes in a lot of face changes to npcs check out TNR http://www.stephanewuttunee.net/tnr_home.html While we're at the faces topic, there is something called "Oblivion Face Exchange Lite," check it out. It allows you to take a FACE from you're saved game file and transfer it to any saved game (along with changes like hair, eyes and you can modify these in face exchange also, etc.) There is the racial face problem in that each race has their own specified face structure, so it may alter the original slightly (i think there's a way to configure this also). And if you are considering or have read about HGEye Candy, look up Eye Candy first and install that, then upgrade to HGEC (if you prefer that body over FF -Fantasy Figures) There was a voice mod (with various custom voices in it) that let the player randomly comment (even in combat)... but the name escapes me at the moment. Will get back to you when I have an idea of what it was. That Encumerance idea is rather... A GOOD IDEA! hmmm... gonna check and see if its possible. BaronObvious
Yeah, when I was watching my cousin get over-encumbered in Fallout 3, the idea came to me that someone should take that feature and implement it into Oblivion. It would make things so much more convenient, without being borderline cheating like Bag of Holding, or really cheating like simply going ~tgm every time I want to not drop all the valuable loot. Ever get that situation where you're stuffed to the brim with loot, and you look in your bag to see what you can drop, only to find out nearly everything in your bag is something you want to keep or sell for a decent price? I get that all the time, and its aggravating.
ihateregisteringeverywhere
You know, that hapening in FA3 isn't all that non-agravating either. Mostly because A) You're a sitting duck(compared to a hunting pack of mirelurks that is) B) You can't use fast travel. Which can often lead to a hasty demise. Arr, nevermind that, yes, it's a good idea, would install such a mod myself. I actualy tried searching for it just now :), no such mod in existence yet though - or atleast I didn't find it. Guest deleted829424
I'm sure that the Face Pack was TNR, and Mystic elves are from Ren's. I recommend you dload Cosmetic Comp which mashes a bunch of them together, including Ren's. The voices are a big problem. As I see noone has suggested it, i'm going to. Download this. It's the best mod EVER! It gives your character a voice, based on the one you download. Your character will make comments about things that are happening, shout war cries, and the like. My favorite mod.
