How to change in-game text only from English to Japanese?

Hi all,

 

I'm trying to play the game in Japanese (voice, text, subs) but I also want to be able to use F4SE and mods.

 

Unfortunately, the Japanese version of the game is really old - they stopped updating it at 1.9.4

 

I've sorted out how to change the English voices to Japanese in the current, English version of the game, but the text has proven to be way harder.

 

I tried changing the language to 'ja' in the .ini file, but it just changes the text to weird jibberish.

 

Does anybody know how to replace the in-game text with Japanese?
