Ratara
This is an idea that has been wiggling around in my brain for a while but I do not have the modding skills to make it come to life. A long time ago I thought of what would be the best weapon for a mage.Dagger? Mace? For a mage their primary weapon is magic, so I would think that their ideal weapon would be something that can deliver an enchantment but would be easy to wield. Something a toothpick could use to tag their opponent and let the magic do the rest. I was walking through the swap-meet and saw a stun baton when the idea hit me, a baton or rod. Take the existing quarterstaff weapons from Oldrim, cut them down to 1/4 (or less) of their current length, apply the mace animation to them, and give them enchanting bonuses like stalhrim already does. Quarterstaffhttps://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25431 Of course the weapons enchantment bonus would depend on the material the rod was made from. Moonstone could provide a 15% bonus to frost damage, while Stalhrim could provide a 35% bonus to frost damage (It already provides a 25% bonus).Steel could provide a 15% bonus to electrical damage, while Dwemer rods could provide an 25% bonus to electrical damage.Glass could provide a 15% bonus to fire damage, while Ebony rods could provide a 25% bonus to fire damage.Daedric rods could provide a 25% bonus to health draining effects. Those are a few thoughts, good idea? Bad idea?Thoughts on what other materials would provide a enchantment bonus? Adventurer1111
Here is one for staffs: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1307 Here is one for wands: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48669/ I think this might be close to what you are looking for: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/23825?tab=files If not, maybe someone can build it. Thanks for suggesting it.

Thanks for suggesting it. Thank you for the links but they were not quite what I was looking for.I was thinking of a melee weapon similar to an Escrima stick with a bonus to it's enchantments. You know, an melee weapon whose enchantment is much worse than it's weapon damage. anjenthedog
FWIW, some clubs could be repurposed as short staves for mage use, and if left un-smithed (that is, so they don't become +250 clubs), their natural hit points are moderately low. I have one (wooden I think) that's not much more that an 18" stick (native hit points were somewhere in the upper 30s). If you hit it with a double enchantment (for instance, chaos and a soul trap, etc), it could turn a ~30 hit into a 120+ hit, mainly in its enchantment value. As a substitute I have been using the Iron Club from Immersive Weapons, it looks sort of like a rod.But I have been debating on using the small blackjack from the Rustic Weapons Pack instead. Sadly, neither gives the enchantment bonus that was the second part of the idea.
anjenthedog
Sure, but you can enchant them yourself. (at least if you acquire a non enchanted version)
Ratara
Sure, but you can enchant them yourself. (at least if you acquire a non enchanted version)That I can, but I am wondering if you read the initial post now. I wanted a mod that adds melee weapons for mages.A rod or baton (a very simple weapon) that has an enchanting bonus associated with it.Like how Stalhrim makes frost damage and resist frost enchantments 25% stronger.
