Mod request: Metro system operational?

I dont know if this is even possible, but could the metro system be modded in?

I know it is a huge task probably, but having this metro system going would be so awesome.

The buildings, and probably the interior, already exists, the rails are also existing. And it looks too spectacular to give it up.

This would make the game even more immersive, I think it would soon be the most popular mod ever.
