Toj
I haven't liked the block settings in Oblivion. I have felt one should be able to block better (higher chance to block), and also block more (higher reduce damage). So I went and searched for mods that might do this, and only found 1, Realistic Blocking. It doesn't do what I want, so I started doing my own research and testing. These are the block setting descriptions from TCS http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Block These descriptions are not correct, at least from my testing they are not. In making a mod, I was going for the following:At Block Skill: 75, you block 100% of the time when against one targetAt Block Skill: 100, you block 100% of the time with weapons and hand to handIf you do block with a shield, you take no damage. If you block with a weapon, you take 10% damage. If you block with hand to hand, you take 20% damage. So, I tried these settingsFblockmax: 1.0 (If you block, you reduce damage 100% with a shield)Fblockskillmult: 1.334 (Each point in block = 1.333% real chance to block with shield, so at block 75, you would have 100% blocking with a shield)Fblockskillnoshieldmult =.7497 = (Weapons and hand to hand block 74.97% as well as shields...100 Block skill = 100% blocking with weapon and hand to hand)fBlockAmountWeaponMult = .90 (Weapons block 90% damage)FBlockAmountHandToHandMult: .80 (Hand to Hand reduces damage 80%)This didn't work. With the settings above, at block 75 I was blocking 100% with shields, weapons, and hand to hand, and blocking 100% damage. I went back and adjusted fblockskillmult to 1.0, and the only thing that changed was that at block 100 I was blocking 100% with shields, weapons, and hand to hand, and blocking 100% damage. Oh, and another thing I learned is that when you fight against multiple creatures at one time, your blocking percentage goes down (which is good and makes sense). Any ideas what settings are wrong? I'd be doing more testing, but my work computer doesn't have ES: O..... :)
maYuYang
Hmmm, I dislike changing stats with CS, I recommend using TES4Edit for that. It looks confusing at 1st, but believe me, it's much easier to handle and (most of the time) less buggy than the CS. When firing up TES4Edit, uncheck all mods exept for oblivion.esm, your block plugin and maybe another block mod(you mentioned realistic block, you could use that as a "tutorial"). Check the values in your tutorial mod and add the same headers in your block mod(I think you need to right click your mod and click on "Add", then you pick what ever you want to edit(but if you ask me, I think Game Setting/Game Stats [sorry, but I forgot what the exact name was] might be what you need). In the tutorial mod, you can also see which values are important for the block mod to work. Not sure if that will help you, but you could give it a try^^
Toj
I have actually spent the past 2 - 3 days every night troubleshooting and testing all these block settings, and it's been insane. Basically I loaded up a new character and put him outside a cave that has 3 bandits inside. I make my changes to block, load the character, test it at various blocking skills, and then repeat. I was giving the one bandit that I was allowing to hit me a daedric weapon, so the damage was high and easily seen. So, after all my testing, I have 2 things where I want them:At 75 Block, you block 100% of the time, and 100% of the damage with a Shield At 90 Block, you block 100% of the time, and 100% of the damage with a WeaponI was trying to make it so at 100 block, you block 100% of the time and 100% of the damage with hand to hand, but out of the hours of testing, I can't make it work. The settings that have changed are:Fblockmax: 1.0 Fblocksnoshieldmult: 1.0fblockskillmult: 1.22fblockamountweapon mult: .84These numbers above give you the 75 shield and 90 weapon block. I've used every combination available with the fblockamounthandtohandmult, in order to get 100% reduction in damage at 100 block skill, but nothing works. I can't even put any number in to just get 100% reduction in damage. So, currently I am using .75 for the fblockamounthandtohandmult. Basically at 100 block, you take 5 - 6 damage (unarmored) from a guy wielding a deadric weapon on his normal standard attack. Seems to work, but if anyone has any idea how to get hand to hand at 100%, let me know.
maYuYang
When working on my custom race, I noticed that edited abilities never worked untill I started a new game with that race, that propably applies to your block values, too...
