tewlons
Fellow modders and Skyrim players, I wanted to announce that I am developing a new mod based on Final Fantasy 7 for Skyrim. There are a number of existing mods that add FF7 related content to Skyrim already, but I want to bring them together and create an epic quest. It is currently under development but has a long way to go before it can be released. Hopefully, if you are interested, you will post suggestions and comments here which will help motivate me to continue as well as contributing ideas to the design. Here's an overview of the mod as it is planned: -Use existing FF7 mods for armor, weapons, clothing, hair, etc. to give the characters an authentic appearance. Where possible I will seek permission from the original authors to include their content in my mod. If it is not possible to get permission from an individual author, I will make the original mod a prerequisite for my mod. -Use original FF7 music and play it at appropriate times -Create NPCs for each of the FF7 characters with appropriate attributes and appearance -Develop a rich quest, including complex dialog and quest objectives. -Create an FF7 based story that remains true to the original characters and integrates into the world of Skyrim -The player will first meet Cloud, Tifa, Aeris, and Barrett and then find other characters (Cid, Red XIII, Yuffie, etc.) in the world of Skyrim -The quest will involve hunting and killing Sephiroth, with possible interference from Shinra. Aside from the obvious, here are some things I would like to include (if time and resources permit): -FF7 locations (Midgar, Cosmo Canyon, Costa Del Sol, Wutai to name a few) (This may be a bit too ambitious though) -FF7 style magic/materia -Use/modify an existing airship mod to recreate the FF7 airship That covers the basics. The mod is currently under development but only consists of a basic framework and initial dialogue for Act 1 of the quest. If this sounds like a mod that you would be interested in playing, or if you are interested in contributing assets to it, please post your comments, questions and requests here. Your interest will help motivate me to develop this mod, and if you have good suggestions, I will try to include them. Thanks! tewlons
(edit) I had posted the dialogue for act 1, but I'm removing it. I don't want to spoil the quest. Edited March 18, 2013 by tewlons
jaccwaldrop
if you are going to do this you should work something out where material can be placed in a weapon(ff7 weapons, show equipped material in weapon slots) and when equipped you learn a spell but lose the spell when you un-equip the material. also unique textures/meshes for summon monsters like shiva and ifrit. you could also try to put leveling trees for each material that only show when the material is equipped. I would really enjoy this mod I am a huge fan of games like ff7, chrono cross, and lod. I am excited to see what comes out of this.
