stickemup
I was walking through the streets of DC just now, after visiting the Vault-Tec HQ, and suddenly I detect strong radiation... and lookie there, looks like a plane crashed right in front of Statesman Hotel: http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n44/Stickemup_/crash1.jpghttp://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n44/Stickemup_/crash2.jpg there's nothing to find, really, but I like it because it's a nice little detail, one of those things that make exploring this place so much fun, because it makes you wonder about how it came to be. TheOutlander
I was under the impression that it was an undetonated nuclear missile (seeing how much radiation it puts out that is). Edit:According to the Fallout 3 Wiki Notes on the Statesman Hotel:http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Statesman_Hotel It's a crashed Delta IX Missile. RodusMaxumus
There is a bit of a stash in the sewer pipe down there, be warned there are two or three muties in there too.

TheOutlander
Nah the Firelance event just has an explosion sound happen near you then you find the gun and ammo scattered all over the place (I had to have Dogmeat recover it all, that's how scattered it was). omgwtf666
In 2020, the Delta IX rocket was commissioned by the USSA. The Delta IX Rocket was the last of the manned rockets to the Moon. Almost 15 years later, the Delta IX Rocket was converted for U.S. military purposes. Crew and instrument sections were replaced with a nuclear warhead. The last manned mission to the moon occurred in 2052. good find  if you get repair 100 you could fly to the moon on it... or not... grumbler
stickemup, I always avoided that spot because of the radiation, so didn't see this site until you pointed it out. Next time in the vicinity, I did check it out. Pretty cool, I thought. I checked out the stash at the bottom, looted the corpse and cache, made it out with severe radiation poisoning, and discovered that, even after ingesting all the Radaway in the stash, I still had a high rad count! Sucks to be greedy! ;D
hbzliln1ck
it also says in the missle article that"There may possibly be a crashed one in Vernon Square" however i do think it is one. what im thinking is that it was launched and when the bombs fell it was destroyed by an emp from a nuke exploding in the atmosphere
Alceister
Or it simply failed altogether. Things don't always work perfectly 100% of the time.
