Pau1K311y
Hi again. Well I think I have set up my system, hooray! now I'm ready for installation... Now I want to place steam on my hdd - no problem - and place Skyrim onto my games ssd. Here I am using the method outlined by RockPaperShotgun - http://www.rockpaper...tall- kindly sent by alsoran, thanks I'm currently trying to download the beta steam version (so far so good) but then I run into problems when I try to adjust the shortcut by adding ' -dev' so it looks like this: "D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe -dev" I get an error message saying that this path is not valid. ***Sorry I have updated this post as I tried -dev outsied quotes and that works, yet no 'console' tab appears in steam. Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong please? And if this is the best way to do it anyway? Edited March 24, 2013 by Pau1K311y
LithiumPower
Why do you need the dev console or beta version of steam. I use neither of those and steam prompts me for where I want to install most games (Valve's own games are an exception that comes to mind). Make sure you have the latest version updated. SSD - your OS should be on the SSD this would be c:\Windows, do NOT install Steam in the default location of \Program Files x86\ do NOT - this will royally mess up a lot of games and especially Skyrim mods. Instead create a new partition on your SSD exclusively for games, install steam and whichever games you feel will benefit from running from the SSD like Skyrim and it's mods. OR install Steam on your HDD, so the default location for games is the HDD, then create a new steam library on your SSD just for Skyrim and the mods. Pau1K311y
OK I guess I dont have my finger on the pulse with Steam! Just tried it putting Steam on HDD and selected my games SSD - it loaded fine! Thanks
