rosestorm
Hello All, I am currently using this mod as my main character's armor, https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/4950?tab=description, does anyone know if it is possible to apply this retexture to the armor, https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/983? Both the original model and retexture are from DAI but I don't know if the retexture is directly applicable in that way.
theskymoves
At the very minimum, you'd need to extract the DDS files from the daimod archive, since DAO wouldn't know what to do with that. And you'd probably need to rename the texture files, so they'd match the file names you want to override. I'm not sure if DAO can use DAI normals and specular files, or if they'd require some kind of conversion. (I haven't worked with DAI textures in years, sorry.) Anyway, the first thing I would do in your situation is extract those DDS files from the daimod (IIRC, you want DAI Mod Maker for that), Then compare the diffuse texture (it will probably have a '_d' suffix at the end of the file name) with the diffuse from the DAO mod you want to override. (You'll need a graphics program that can at least view DDS files.) The layout of the flattened texture assets need to be the same, or the body parts won't line up correctly, even if the textures work otherwise. If they do match up, then it's worth trying to rename the files, and put them in the DAO override directory. Edited to add that if the DAI texture files are very high res, you might need to downscale them to 2048x2048. DAO will sometimes have trouble using texture files that are any larger than that, even with the 4GB/LAA patch applied.
