bulletproof shield - (ao2)

so i got tired of new vegas crashing and invalidating my saves so ive been playing army of two. now, with renewed patience ill play new vegas. i want a riot shield :D i tried to make a retexture of the ballistic scutum from tg's armor mod, but it would have been for personal use since i havent tried to get permission yet, basically i turned it black and spray painted a smiley face on it.

if you can recall any of my posts ive mentioned morrowind, and its construction kit, aka the game before the game before skyrim.

when i went to make the new shield within the geck i found that i cant point the item to individual meshes and textures, just meshes. and that the texture info is held in the .nif mesh file. WHY......anyways i tried looking up tutorials on how to link the old mesh to my new texture (i could just do a replacer but i dont want that...want to be able to have both in game) and what i found did not help. the tutorials said to go to 0bsfadersomething or other and expand 26trianglewhatever and long story short their names did not match the names that were on my screen for menu options....i eventually found some things that were pointing to tg's textures, so i pointed them to my updated texture. well in my mind that should have changed the look of the shield, but instead the geck preview showed the right mesh but the texture was that of the ground, as if it were transparent.

i like my laptop. in order to keep it from flying across the room, i uninstalled nif scope. im not messing with that. ever. again. i might try gimp.....

but anyway would anyone be interested in creating a bullet proof shield? maybe a clean one and a used one, heavy wieght high protection(75~90 lbs) and mid weight mid protection(40~50), and a light weight fiberglass low protection one that stops melee, fists and 9mm rounds (like 10 lbs)? if i got the resources i might be able to do the geck work myself but as far as art goes.....im used to solid works and autodesk for making 3d objects....the menus in nifskope were beyond jibberish to me.

anyone interested? it would be appreciated, i know tg made the legion shield, and set it as a left hand accesory item, and made it a "shield" by giving it a high damage resistance
