I'm gonna start a new game, and I want it to be as close to Vanilla as possible (since I haven't finished the game once yet) with just a few changes: I want the companions (incl. Dogmeat) to be essential and I don't want a limit on the followers. Oh, and Caravans essential. But I still want the Karma checks to remain and such. Is there a mod to do that? I know there are some that can do those AND MORE (AI, Model changes, etc.), but I can't find one that just does those. Any help?

this might sound like an extremely silly question and it IS offtopic but saves me making a new one..

 

 

why would anyone want to use followers?

i mean, they get in the way.. they're just asking to get shot, they bug up, often they dont load thru cells properly, generally they make the game far far too easy which F3 was already.

 

never used a follower in F3 or in OB. with F3 is more than possible to finish the game using "nothing" but the 10mm Pistol (on normal/hard mode) with the exception of the 1 time you're forced to kill a behemoth...

 

anyways, yeh. rant over but still. why would anyone want an annoying compaion instead of being a wasteland loner?

ChanceEncounter is right, the Oh Followers Mod is the ticket for the stuff you want.

 

as for making them essential ::

 

- Open the console

- Click on your Follower (ie Clover)

- Type setessential 000156a2 1 to make Clover immortal

 

i think the hex code between setessential and 1 is unique to the entity. i cant be assed to find the complete list of folllower ID codes, but then again GIYF.

just cos you can dress them up in uniform and kick ass~!

 

i like running around with clover and charon and jericho and dogmeat and just take one shot at some distant target and watching them go all aggro about it xD

 

we're all using tesla armour with hockey masks and goggles. the masks are retextured to black with a crimson red blood smear across it. its awesome :3

im still looking for a skull for the hockey mask texture though :(

Rather than make them essential you can make them invincible, so they never take damage or you can raise their base HP to 10,000,000 so their death is literally impossible. To remove the follower limit just switch the topics in the follower and follower hire conversations to have a 'playerhasfollower' test of '>1' rather than '==1' (is 1). Then the existing script which never sets 'playerhasfollower' to a value higher than 1 will never satisfy that test...

 

 

Of course if you're going to cheat just run up to opponents, hit the ~ key, click the opponent and type 'kill'
