Marcavious
sigh, I hate being the new kid on the block, always have and will, reminds me of way back when I was 12 and my parents moved from Washington State to Georgia for job related issues. Gawd that first day when I walked out to meet all the local kids on the block, I was nerve racked and queasy, little bastards that they were. Anyway, yet again I find myself in a similar state and come to you [et al] looking for assistance. I recently received Morrowind as gift from a friend and after a few weeks of intensive playing began to find myself disenfranchised with several aspects of its playability: lack of proper economic ratios, mob diversity, quests, spell ability/physics, et cetera. Essentially the vanilla game, though having depth and many refining features, seems to also lack certain aspects of function and form. This I know can be resolved through modification, the problem is the shear number available and the fact many are non-compatible. For this reason I turn to those with experience, essentially you guys, in search of guidance. Would one (or many) of you please offer suggestions as to the best/most comprehensive list of mods for use in tweaking or rounding out and increasing the gaming experience available through morrowind. Consecutively, if this has already been done for someone or else wares, if you would then just point me towards that forum thread. For this :help: I would be most appreciative, Marcavious

wallernotsowelsh
First mod's I got were: -Rhedd head faces (search for it on google and something with come up), -But then as that only replaces one race per mod, I looked for one which replaces everyone's face, something came up, it was called NPC replace, (look for it on www.thelys.org under a guy called motoki, brilliant mod site by the way) This replacers all the crappy original faces on all the characters, with pretty new ones :) -Another mod i got was No-Glo, purely because i hated the plastic coating on the enchanted weapons, again use google. -Because i like to play a ranger type character i was disappointed that there were no plain black hooded robes in the game, so i started looking and found a nice one, by jdooby, called robes collection. This is again on thelys. Those have got to be my 'essential ones' besides both the expansions. More good ones that I use:--Daerks lighting one, cant remember the name but im hoping an admin/moderator will edit this post and put the proper name in (please)-Combat Enhanced - not needed but add a little variety to the basic fighting in morrowind. (By Aerelon on www.thelys.org)-Herbalism - Changes the way you get ingredients in morrowind, nice touch i think (By Balor on thelys)-Vampire Embrace - A beautiful mod that allows you to do stuff when you are a vampire, though I dont think it is needed until you have ran through the game once. (By Cortex on thelys)-Bank - Nice mod that I remember using on my first run through the game, until money became worthless to me (By Indestructable on thelys)-Marksman mod - Great selection of 'projectiles' if you use an archer character (Intelligentsia on thelys)-All of SirLuthor's stuff on thelys is great, it just retextures some of the stuff ingame, probes, picks, hammers and stuff.-Last one i think deserves a mention is Lock Bash Enhanced, put together by thelys, on thelys.org, just a nice alternative to picking doors. If you wondering why the all of www.thelys.org it was because I just opened the site and looked down the list at the good ones that I can remember ( :P ) Enjoy EDIT: wow that has to be a record length post for me,
PierreBeauregard
Some mods that I use that don't affect gameplay too much but add to the atmosphere: -Book Rotate (allows easier placing of books on shelves when collecting)-Weapon Rotate, Armor Rotate (allows custom rotation of armor and weapons when collecting)-100% projectile store chance (so if you're using super-expensive enchanted missile weapons you don't lose them)-Ring Texture Fix (if you may have noticed, all rings in the game appear black when you put them on the ground. This fixes that)-ModMan's Window Lights (the windows in all towns glow at night)-Spuzzum's Interoir Daylight (the windows in imperial towns glow during the day. Works great with ModMan's plugin) -Journal Fix and Quest Fix http://www.strong-family.net/morrowind/ (fixes a lot of annoying quest and journal bugs)-Weathered Signs (makes signs readable in English with a weathered touch, so you can read them from far away, instead of the Daedric font)-Atmospheric Sound Effects (adds a lot of sounds to the environment, such as in towns and in taverns and in the wilderness. If you're sick of the music and want to turn it off, this will flesh out the world greatly).-and pack guar mod (such as my "intelligent pack guar"), this helps so you don't have to run to town all the time when you're full of loot. These plugins I recommend to enhance the game without "destroying" the balance or gameplay.
Marcavious
thanks so much to you all for these valued suggestions, I've already tried several and they've certainly helped place a fresh finish on what was becoming a tired game. eva999
these are the main mods i use 1. A mod that adds a race called the fire dragon (its actually something else but the race is supposed to be descended from the dragons) 2. the clear bounty ring which just clears your bounty (my bro found this one) 3. the cloak collection mod which adds capes and cloaks to the game (i have a set that ups all my thieving abilities) and 4. the my house mod which is a room made by me with a chest containing every dadric item in the game and 500 dadric arrows and darts. I found the fire dragon and cloak collection at morrowind summit i think it is. its one of the link sites off morrowinds official website.
Guest
For mob diversity you could Try the GIANTS mod it adds a lot of creatures to the game, but many people dont like it.(Gamersroam.com or Morrowind summit)Personally i like the Teleport ring and Master Trainer teleport ring, they cut back on travel time, but I consider them a cheat.(Gamersroam.com or Morrowind summit)I like the Sea of Destiny Expansion, It is a free home made expansion with lots of new armor weapons clothes quests ect ect.(Google serch Sea of Destiny)Also I like the If Wishes Were Horses mod which adds horses to the game which i think are cool.((google search If whishes were horses mod) Hope that helps :nazgul:
