SGD
Every time I try to load the data from Fallout3.esm in the G.E.C.K., the window seizes up and I end up having to close the program. The G.E.C.K. loads all of the files, the cells, the entities, then stops responding near 100% loading. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I'm thinking maybe my PC just isn't powerful enough to open the G.E.C.K..
deliverance6
if you can run f3 you can run the GECK. perhaps a fresh install of Both F3 and GECK will do it.... perhaps not. oh and Ctrl+alt+del before you try, close EVERYTHING you don't need. that's everything from anti-virus to torrents. try and cut windows procces's down to around 27 (presuming you run XP)
SGD
Thanks, I tried what you said, and it may have helped, but... I just left the G.E.C.K. window open in the background for the 10 or so minutes since my post and it opened, so I'm guessing I could do with at least a bit more RAM. Thanks again! skojolt
It's a buggy app that has been added to over the years with little consideration of newer multithreading operating systems, you just have to take a break and brows the web or go bake a cake or something when it's loading files. The entire app uses one thread, a practice abandoned by competent app developers about ten years ago...
