Removing current location from main map

I've been looking for a mod that removes the GPS thingy on the map that always tells you where you are in the game. Does such a mod exist? If not, would one be terribly hard to make? I'm looking at the game's code with a hex editor right now but I don't know which parts of it govern the map icons.
