StealthArcher
I want to shorten the barrel of the Hunting rifle (I don't want to give away to many details yet on what the design is) but, when I erase the part of the barrel end in gimp and save as a dds (yes gimp can do them, with a plugin), it shows up as black on the model in game. And no, no model changes please, I suck at that, I have tried endlessly to understand it, but it is a skill I can not learn. Any idea what's going on here? Are you erasing the texture itself or the alpha channel? If you are using the alpha channel and the outcome is still black, the model itself may be missing the appropriate properties to allow it to use textures with an alpha channel. Skree000
By default I dont think guns have opacity textures... youll have to create one and plug it into the appropriate slot for opac maps in the NIF in NIFSKOPE check out Hair meshes and look for which slot opacity goes in... then re-open your gun, remember where the right slot is for opacity maps and make one. Black = transparent, white = opaque, usually, but it might be reversed. From there you can probably draw up your texture accordingly, while using the diffuse as an overlay guide to see where you have to paint a white section remember, it probably still wont look right, because specular maps affect areas that even marked opaque, so your spec map would also have to be modified, and the opaque area blacked out completely (black = matte (non shiney))
StealthArcher
I'm erasing down to 0 alpha yes. So the texture. Hmm, that sucks then, I'm gonna have to figure out modeling, great, see you in 10 years. :| EDIT: Oh, missed the new post, sorry. Thanks, I'll try it. StealthArcher
Okay, made up a _pl version of the HR skin, now how do I get it to recognize it? I'm quite certain ValidateNewFiles won't do it as it only checks files that already exist in batch. EDIT: Wait, what is NIFSKOPE? EDIT 2: I'm taking a random guess based off of search that it is in GECK. Fixed the problem with geck, installed one folder short of F3. Still can't find anything called NIFSKOPE though. EDIT3: I feel stupid, I didnt follow my own advice of JFGI. Now I just need to figure out what how this thing works, and what nif's are.
StealthArcher
Okay, I have NIFSKOPE, I got a beard open to check for comparison, and it appears I need an NiAlphaProperty Under NiTriStrips, however, I can create a NiAP block, but cant get it to go under NiTS. Personally, programming was easier than this.
StealthArcher
I DID IT! :thanks: Finally, enough time passed by :P. EDIT: And it all comes to, yeah, modeling. It will have to be done to accomplish this, as the little bore end of the barrle doesnt move. And without it, the gun looks hollow. :| Next idea. StealthArcher
Done it all already, like I said, I've tried to learn, but it's the one thing I was born destined to never succeed at I guess.
DogtoothCG
heres a fast cheap way to complete what your dtrying to do, open up the model, select the select vertice's (it will probably have little dots on the button) select the part of the barrel you want to remove, and press delete on your keyboard, then re export the gun
