Mounted guns, both fixed and portable

Wouldn't it be awesome if the BoS strongholds like the Citadel, GNR studio and Washington Monument had machine gun nests to defend them? And wouldn't it also be sweet if you could haul around one those machine guns (or let Fawkes carry it for ya) and set it up on a tripod whenever you need some suppressing fire?

And how about replacing the eyesore of the Fat Man/MIRV with its real-life counterpart, the M-388 Davy Crockett with an M28 launcher?

It'd make the weapon less unbalancing since you'd have to carry the round and the launcher (or give one part to a companion, as the real micro-nuke rounds weighed 76 lbs each) and set it up to fire, during which time you can't move.

Well it was just an idea to improve the realism... How 'bout a smaller Davy Crockett Mk 2, designed to be fired from the shoulder? The only real difference to the fat man would be the models and a trail of smoke from the projectile.

 

Either way, it'd still be sweet to have mounted machine guns.

I think there is a mod named 'Placeable Equipment' on the nexus that allows placement of turrets and barricades, which look more fancy, but are functionally the same. You don't get to mount them, but it's better then nothing.
