Hi, Delanath, also known as Random_Knight777, here. I'd like to ask a few questions mostly centered towards people with some knowhow of the GECK tool. These questions may cover a few different areas, and I will be ever gratefull for any assistance given, even if it's just pointers at where to look.

 

1) How do you create Dialogues? I looked over the GECK Wiki from time to time in hopes for finding that little thing I had missed, perhaps I didn't search enough. Mostly, I'd like to know how you create a Dialogue, and how to give it to a character afterwards.

Things such as:

Making a "HELLO", or Greeting, dialogue.

Branching Dialogue, Topic A gives you the choices of A.1, A.2, A.3, which in turn gives other choices, and so on.

 

2) Some minor things about scripting, I mostly try to dissect a few simpler scripts, and then put it together in a new area with a few new conditions and outcomes, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I might have missed a few pages about this on the GECK Wiki if anything...

I would like to know:

How one can make a script run when you "Click" an item in the Inventory, Misc Item, that is, Like a wrench? Just a small example on what's needed, then I can probably stuff in the rest.

Can you make a script that activates on any "Creature", but only when it's dead? Such as a Dead Protectron?

 

These would be my current questions. And just as a note, I won't mind if other "Freshling Modders" have questions for the more experienced audience, to use this topic aswell, Sharing is Caring, right?

I know how to do scripting. Can you describe what you want to do exactly? (what do you want to do with the inventory item/protectron?)

I'm pretty new to dialogue and have only played a little with it. But here's the post that helped me get things working. http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=91069&hl=

Scroll down a little and someone lays out the steps needed. All credit to that person.

 

And I'm not much on scripting either but from what I understand here is a list of of the blocktypes. They seem to describe when the script will be fired.

Ah, thank you both for quick answers, Those blocktype things might help me quite abit~.

 

Hmm... lessee...

 

Basicly, I want to have an item in the Inventory, like a special wrench, that when activated, pops up a menu, and from the menu, I can build stuff using items from my inventory. Such as a turret or robot.

 

However, now when I got the blocktype info, I should be able to do that myself. I've been messing around with a few simple scripts(The scripts I "Dissected"? Wonder Meat Maker and Workbench, so I know how to make Menus and conditions and the like for item creation, although not on the level of the Workbench, just a simpler version).

 

And now I need to train abit on Dialogue making, and then some companion aspects to that... If things work out like I want them to, I might very well have a mod which allows you, as a true-blood Engineer, create your own Turrets and Companion Robots~.

 

That is, if I get that far, Will post later with vague results after some Trial and Error.
