DMGT
I've tried searching all over for this but I can't find anything for what I'm thinking of. It's always bothered me how you level up your armor in Skyrim -- A stealth character or archer / armored mage can level up throughout the game, increasing the difficulty of their opponents, without ever really being hit in return. That's fine in it of itself, but the problem is that when you do want to start trying different combat systems (punching, dual wielding, 2 handers or melee in general), all of your opponents hit very hard. Essentially, you're left with the option of afking with +regen enchantments during a 5 hour brawl or other gimmicky systems. My proposed solution: A mod that will generate EXP/skill progression for wearing armor and moving/being in combat. In addition to the current vanilla system. After 200 hours of gameplay wearing a full set of armor, you should be able to reach 100 Light or Heavy armor skill even if you're not being hit. If you wear 4 pieces of one armor type, you get a small bonus to the rate you passively improve your armor skill. (from 200 hrs down to 180 hrs) If you mix and match pieces of heavy and light it will not apply any bonus. Instead, you just gain the normal rate for each type equipped. Justifications: 1) Looking at the perk trees, there's an emphasis on how the higher your skill is with an armor type, the more freely you're able to move in it and the better you can utilize it for defense. 2) By wearing / traveling in your armor, you are actively adjusting to the weight and restrictions of that armor, improving your potential to use it. 3) There is no way to exploit this any differently than is already available in vanilla 4) I have no idea how to write a mod, let alone one like this Edit: Website chewed up format.
