MQ-friendly Alternate Start

Is there a way to create an alternate start that begins perhaps at the docks of Solitude? Filling out forms or whatever to create your character (or a blatantly transparent character creation sequence would do just as well). But, to preserve the main quest, how about triggering a scripted Stormcloak/Imperial ambush at a point far south of the map, with a scripted 'death' of the player being knocked out and waking up in the cart on their way to Helgen. It would mean that the main quest wouldn't be triggered accidentally since its so far out of the way, but it could still be activated when the player chose in a lore-friendly way.

 

The players items would need to be stored, perhaps in a chest somewhere along the tutorial section of the game (in the torture room perhaps?) and replaced with rags. And a little bit of pre-Alduin Helgen would have to be modelled (working merchants, etc) for when players come across it before activating the main quest.

 

Thought this would be an immersive, yet unintrusive way of starting the game with a new story.
