CelsiuZ
Hey there, I use Vortex as a quick way to enable & disable mods that I am working on. I noticed that my mod was active both in "Plugins" and in the "Mods" section. I figured this was bad & that I should use the "Plugins" section for my mods. I went back to "mods" & selected "remove" thinking that it would just be "removed" from Vortex but remain in "Fallout 4/Data". I believe that Vortex asked me if I wanted to delete the archive (which I said yes to, again assuming this would not alter my "Fallout 4/Data" folder. Looking back at the ESP now located in Fallout 4/Data, it has been reverted to a "2020-12-26" version, meaning tons of my work has been lost? I obviously did something wrong, but why would vortex even delete or change files in the "Fallout 4/Data" folder to begin with? Also, how do I recover my .esp? Pickysaurus
You removed the mod, which deletes it from your staging folder entirely. I'm sorry to say it sounds like you deleted that version. For future reference, disabling a mod will remove it's staged files, deleting it removes it permanently.

No, for Bethesda Games, there's the MOD part of the MOD, and there's a PLUGIN part of the mod.The MOD tab takes care of the ARCHIVE, BSA, TEXTURES, MESHES part of the Mod.The PLUGIN tab takes care of the ESP, ESM, ESL part of the Mod. Since you answered YES, to Deleting the archive, you agreed to have Vortex Delete your entire Mod. Vortex is a Mod Manager, it's job is to Delete and change files in the Fallout Data Directory. That's what ALL mod managers do. Your ESP is gone, because you told Vortex to delete it.
