M60 and M249

In addition to my other recently released mods (linked below for reference), I have plans to import a M60 and M249 into the game, also possibly an M240HG (M240HG model is not verified to be free release or open source).

I plan to produce both the M249 and M60 into Beta's, whichever there is more support for first , the other less supported MG shortly after that.

Votes will be tabulated this monday; my weekend will be spent modeling and making minor updates to my other supported mods; the m16 hasn't been touched in awhile; could use a serious facelift now that I'm more competent in the 3d modelers. BOZAR fix for the M82 on it's way tonight probably with a minor facelift for all the M82's.

- Previous mods for FO3 I've brought into Beta stage are all: full functioning, good models, but poor textures. Is a work in progress;

- Please remember to rate if you enjoy them;

M249 ... since war already has a M60 out there, not saying not to make your own but of the 2 there is no 249.

I was not aware of an M60 mod that existed;

I'll go check his out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit; I may still take a crack at the M60; Not dissing the M60 Beta by war1982, but my list of american service weapons that I plan to introduce to the fallout world includes an M60, and his may not be ready before the list is filled up.

It's up in the air, and his looks pretty comparable to the stuff I've been putting out.

If I do decide to make an M60, it'll just be last on the list.

Here's a link to war1982's M60 Beta download page;

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If I think his is better quality I won't bother making an M60 then.

Depends on how his works too;

There is another project currently being finished before the FN249, but it looks like that's what I'll be working on then.

Reload animations will use whatever is appropriate to the model;

My m2 mod had the can below it like the minigun; But I don't see the M60 or FN249 being handled like that.

FYI animations; in FOT:BOS (fallout tactics, brotherhood of steel), the squad based real time or turn based strategy game the character used the machinegun animations (which is basically how FO3 uses the minigun animations for placement)

Machineguns were fired from the hip unless in prone or squatting positions; then they were shoulder fired.

Check out my M2 Browning Mod to see how I did how the character has a handle on the gun.

Off the top of my head I'd probably use assault rifle animation framing (where it's held in the hands; '2handautomatic', with combat shotgun reload ('reload d' I think?). There may be waaaay more appropriate animation though. it's still barely into the game environment ATM.

I've got other Beta release pots stirring and I'm currently supporting updates for 4 seperate weapon mods that released within days from each other.

P.S. If you liked my other work there will be a sneak peek of my next Beta;

--It'll be posted on the AA-12 page in the screenshots tonight or tommorow.

It's fully skinned and looks very good.

**********************************************************************

Still feel free to express your desire for an M60 over an M249;

M60 got NO love;

--it was the same for the AA12 when there was a vote for AA12 or Barrett M82 first, Barrett got all the love.

---------------------------------------------

Real Quick; about the flechette gun;

I plan to do a few other machine guns from foreign nations, but they will likely be more recent models;

For now I'm just working on american armament, because the setting is the capital of USA.

...It's a strangely patriotic game... holes in the capital building and all.

haha, i´m happy that i did not continue my m2 browning project....now i see someone got the idea and finished it.

i´m stuck at the same points/problems like you. there exist no really useful animations for belt fed machineguns. maybe you know my bozar mod :E

that means either someone does animations and we might run in the lack that with the upcoming "booster packs" the guns wont work anymore cause the few left animation slots get filled up by bethesda themself, or we find another way. for sure it´s not nice to put heavy guns in a cage, build a f3-minigun grip around it and say hey, there it is. but that´s actually all we have or can do.

as long as the minigun animations still have a rotating cylinder in them, i thought about a bigger cylinder above the ammo box. the cylinder is half opened so the inside is visible. inside is another cylindric model with an ammunition skin on it, and this gets fixed to the barrel. so the barrel is stuck on the gun itself, and if you press fire the rotating cylinder inside gives a little bit feeling of ammo feeding into the gun.

as i said, it´s actual an idea i dit not finish (yet :P ).

ah, and by the way, i vote for m60. both guns are great and the m249 much more technical perfekt, but the m60 has some kind of special hardcore charisma i cannot explain....it´s much bigger and cooler somehow...and it was in fallout 2 :lol:
