Containers Explode

You've got the perfect trap planned out, you're going to provoke your enemy to attack you, then run off and lure him into a narrow alleyway with a dumpster in it. You run past, pull your detonator and wait. He arrives shortly, you press the detonator's trigger, but nothing happens! You're dead now, all because of a rather odd mechanic where explosives such as mines or C4 will not explode if you put them in a container.

 

This is mainly for roleplaying reasons, as enemies can't see the explosives lying in front of them, but it would be tons of fun.

 

I was thinking mines and C4 would work as normal while in the containers.
