Idiotekque
Honestly, I'm mostly writing this post in anger/sadness/frustration. Today I decided I wanted to play Skyrim again after awhile. I have it modded a bit, the alternate start mod, some extra armor, retextures, SkyUI, and some minor other tweaks (all in all, under 10 mods). The games always ran great until a few forced updates, which broke my SKSE/SkyUI combo. Still the game still ran fine besides a popup in the menus saying "WRONG SKSE VERSION", even though the menus still worked great. So a month ago I became aware of this, and also around the same time made sure Fallout New Vegas was running well, which it was. Today I try to launch Skyrim, and it just refuses to even make it to the menu and crashes. I disable every mod I have on, no change. Very annoying, but I say oh well and decide to start from scratch, use updated mods, whatever. My character wasn't very far and I'll fix it easily since I have very few mods anyways. Then I try launching FNV... big surprise, instant crashes, no matter what I do. I'm not even going to get into the mods I have on that game, because I have quite a few, but I know they are all compatible and the game runs fine (as fine as a heavily modded Bethesda game can run, anyways). I'm just really upset and at a loss. I changed absolutely nothing, every single other game on my PC runs great, I keep everything up to date, I take extremely good care of my PC (which is under 6 months old), etc etc. I don't understand why this tends to happen with Bethesda games. You let them sit for a couple months, and sometimes when you come back, they no longer run. I cleaned my registry, made sure my DX was all up to date, etc. Nothing. Looks like I'm starting from scratch on my 200+ hours of FNV and Skyrim characters... and spending who knows how long getting mods in order again. :(
