adamaknight
Okay so first off, I'm not blaming my pc for this, as per the thread 'Bad mods vs True tech support'. I've been playing about with mods for a while, currently working on a pretty cool one. It's all been working fine, until yesterday I thought 'Hey! I'll add some custom summoning spells to spice things up". I did this, making one that used a spare 'magic effect' summon to summon an NPC to fight for me, and another using a custom made script to summon a vampire. (Surprisingly they both worked fine, except for the vampire's tendency to go berserk and stab anything within fifty yards... solved that though) The problem is, that somewhere along the line, something has gone wrong. When I load the game now, the entire screen sometimes flashes white or cyan for a second, and then continues as normal. Before coming here I did a bit of troubleshooting myself, first running oblivion without my mod at all - didnt have the issue, so its most probably my mod.Secondly, I copied my .esp and then removed one of the new spells out of the active .esp, the issue continued, so I removed the second spell (including all mention of it, all scripts and npc's etc). The problem still remained.I've tried using multiple saves in multiple area's to make sure it isnt just a single zone, or a corrupted save, and the issue occurs everywhere for everyone.I also waited until it stopped raining in case it was a bad animation for lightning or something, which it wasnt. The difficulty is that as far as I remember, those two spells are the only thing I've added to the mod since it was stable (no flashing). It would be awesome if someone could just say 'this is the problem, here's how to fix it', but realistically I just hope someone can give me an idea what could be causing this problem, so that I know where to start looking for a solution. The mod I'm working on adds an interior cell, and a door in the IC waterfront to enter it, and some custom arrows, OnActivate scripts and replaces most existing light armor, as well as adding new kinds. It also includes a CM companion using a custom race. I run oblivion and the latest patch, as well as the unofficial oblivion patch and OOO, the CM companions mods and a ragtag of random things. I dont use OBSE, as my copy of oblivion is from Direct2drive.All the scripts and items I've made use unique names so they wont conflict with other mods, and all of them are tested and work. Please just ask if you need anymore information, I've not included a list of my mods as there wasnt any incompatibility previously, but if you feel a list would help I can add one, Thanks in advance, Adamaknight
adamaknight
Fixed this myself. For anyone experiencing the same issues, the problem was caused by a .NIF file assigned to the visual effects of the summon spell I created. Removing this fixzed the issue, but I dont know how or why.
