Gedgehog
Hey All, I am very interested in creating mods for Skyrim, and after tinkering with the creation kit for a little while - I came to realise that although difficult, it wouldn't be as complex to create some as I first thought - but still tricky to someone who is new to the whole thing. I am however in need of a bit of assistance. I am a little tired of seeing just Nords or Imperials in the Stormcloak / Imperial army, and feel that these two forces could use a touch of diversity to them. My reasoning behind this, is not every High-Elf / Wood-Elf etc, is born in the Aldmeri Dominion - and not every elf I'm sure would agree with what their aims and goals are. Same reasoning behind the Stormcloaks - not every Orc / Breton for example, would agree with the Imperials - as there would be Orcs and Bretons that would have been brought up in Skyrim. I'd like to create a simple mod that adds different races to the ranks of the town guards and imperial / stormcloak armies. It always bothered me why Orcs who had grown up in Cyrodiil for example, were not in the army - even High Rock is still an Imperial Province. How feasible would it be to create this type of mod and is it possible through the creation kit?All I would need to do (presumably) is add NPC's to the towns / factions I want them in, and make sure their voices match the guards (which isn't ideal but not unreasonable)
Dart98Rock
Sounds like that would work, or you can find existing ones and edit there race (what I would try and do). That is a good idea, haven't noticed that till now.
Anska
I like the idea. However, you might run into a problem when it comes to the town guard dialogue, which probably was only recorded in the standard guard voices. So your none Imperial/ Nord guards will either be mute or talk with the human voices. Both of which might be a little odd.Other than that you probably only have to expand the Guard lvl lists to include other races as well. Edit: ... I just noticed you mentioned this problem yourself. Sorry. Edited March 28, 2013 by Anska
Gedgehog
That's ok, I appreciate you taking the time to reply! :DHow would one access the levelled lists for a given area? Or for say: A battle?
Noobo
You need to create a few presets for the Lchar of Lvl or Enc actors All guards/soldiers draw on a Lchar for the facedata/racedata The actors in Lchar are a Single NPC with a unique face (how you would create a normal actor)The are added to the LcharThe Lchar is applied to an actor templateLvl and Enc guards draw on the template to create an actor with a random face on the Lchar
Gedgehog
I've actually done it, although the head texture is a bit off on the female guards and I have no idea how to fix it.If I was to get this finished - would anyone be willing to download it? Anska
I'm sorry if this is a superfluous question, but do you mean by "a bit off" that their faces are really really dark? In this case it's a common bug that can easily be fixed. Just follow the instructions here: http://www.creationkit.com/Dark_Face_Bug
Gedgehog
Sorry - my description was terrible. The Ork female guards have Human skinned faces, and everyone elses is, as you say, darker than they are supposed to be.
