R00Kca
First post - I bought oblivion 3 days ago. Great community and resource. I'm loving the wealth of mods and support. After 15+ pages of searching, I couldn't find a description of how to replace just the appearance of existing high elves and dark elves with the meshes/textures from the Lineage II mods. I don't want to install custom races for me to play. I just want to see the existing elf races with the Lineage II appearance. I hope this makes sense and that someone could point me in the right direction. :thanks: EDIT: Could I just replace the mesh and texture files from the Lineage II elf mod and change names and not install the rest of the mod? Am I making sense?
R00Kca
Any help? Am I in the wrong forum?
paintballmaster254
I don't think its as easy as just a copy and paste. The biggest issue it the face of all the NPC's, I'm not sure the face data for them with copy to the new races. I could be wrong however. R00Kca
Thanks for the reply. I did another quick search for a replacer mod and no joy. There are orc and beast race replacers, but no elf replacers. Anyone able to get me started on adding the ears. The hair can be done already, right. (My question mark key is euchred at the moment) :wallbash: Thanks again.
paintballmaster254
If all you want to change is the ears and skin color/texture than that can be done rather easily. Is this what you are trying to do? Matt
R00Kca
Hi Matt. Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I'm just looking for a mod to replace the Altmer/Dunmer race so that they look more like the elves I expect - Record of the Lodoss Wars, Lineage II, etc. I don't want to add a race or change my character per se, just modify the existing npc elf races. They need ears and a more elfish appearance. Thanks again.
paintballmaster254
You can do this in the CS. Place the NIF file for the ears you wish to use in the data folder >meshes >characters >elf (or something similar) then in the CS load it up and choose the character menu then race. I think its the body data tab change the ears to the desired NIF file you placed. To change their apperence (face) you would have to go through and edit each NPC by hand. I will get back and make sure all of what I have said is correct after class. Matt

bben46
We have to be careful here. You can use the appearance of your Lineage II elves, but you cannot legally take the actual meshes, textures or anything else and copy them into another game. The game makers are usually very protective of their meshes and textures, After all, they had to pay someone to make them, and they are copyrighted. However, as long as you make it look like theirs, but do the work yourself it is usually acceptable. If you are not sure, ask a moderator to check it out before you post it on the site. :thanks: Bben46, Moderator
