Race duplicates!

Can anyone help me here or have had this problem occur with them too?

Everytime I install a new race, some of the older races become duplicated. Not only that but the duplicates (or prehaps the former races?) have no eyes. Now it may well be the former races rather than the duplicated ones that are the true races as, say for example, the dremora have no eyes in the character creating menu and so in game too. Kinda freaky battling a non-eyed being!

Any way, was wondering if there is anyway to fix this? I have messed my game up so many times now! lol 'least I managed to fix my other game problem...

Thanks.

I remember this bug happening to me as well.

The solution depends on the race mods you use ofc.

Imo, the easy way is to just disable all race plugins and reinstall the (no, don't worry, I won't say Game^^) race mods. That bug usually happened to me when running the game with a couple of conflicting race mods, some of them were old versions which caused duplicates with inside-out eyes.

The other solution might be to disable one race mod after another to "track" when the bug will stop. This will also tell you which mod is causing the problem. But as mentioned above, you propably have some mods(maybe even quest mods) which add one and the same race. You would need to disable one of them to see if the duplicates disappeared as well as their missing eyes. If not, disable the other one.

Generally spoken: Only install race mods you really need. I e.g. installed I think more than 10 race mods, but only used 2. 8 mods which are just "cluttering" your load order and thus Oblivion.

Ok thanks I'll try that out.

One more question though, if disabling said mods still doesn't rid me of the problem, are there any other options to help me?

Yes, of course^^ I'd love to help, but it will require more time.

Could be that some cosmetic mods are conflicting with your race mods and overwriting some lines and strings or maybe add the same line with another ID. In that case, you could disable all those mods which change race statistics, eyes or hair.

I could imagine that changing the load order might get rid of that problem(e.g. if the cosmetic mod loaded before your race mod, try loading it afterwards). The Mod creater maybe also offers compatibility patches.

The last solution I can think of now would be creating your own compatibility patch.
