SGD
I'm looking to make a pretty simple binoculars mod for Fallout 3, can anybody help me with the basic stuff I'd need to do to create it?
Skree000
depends if you want your own brand new custom model or if you plan on getting someone elses model and putting it in To make your own model youll need a 3d creation package such as 3dstudio max, Maya, Blender, Gmax, XSI Softimage, ModoTo texture your model youll need a 2d creation program such as Photoshop, Gimp, or Paintshop ALternatively you can probably buy (or get for free) a model you want from Turbosquid, or one of those other online 3d stores that sell models for such purposes. Lots of free models out there, there might be a binoculars model already built and tested that you can grab for free from there, check out that site see what you can find :) Once you have your model and texture youll need to get it in game. For that you will need Niftools plugin (for max most likely) 3.0.1 or soNIFskopeGECKFOMM (Fallout mod manager) (it has a built in BSA unpacker youll need) Youll need to put your model in Max and set it up properly for export. Using the Niftools plugin you can export it as a NIF file.Youll then need to open your model in NIFskope and do some final checks and preparations before GECK will accept it. Best way to do that is to export an existing similar NIF file from the Bethesda BSA files using FOMM's BSA extractor. Overwrite the vanilla NIF file you took from the game since thats already set up for you. Once all your NIF stuff is setup in NIFSkope, try importing it into the GECK Do that by editing an existing object similar to your own, change the stats and upload your model in its place It will ask to save as a new file, do so.Open your favorite location in the GECK and drag and drop your new item from the object menu into the game world and place it somewhere. Once thats done save your file and try it out in game. It will appear as an ESP file that you toggle on in your Fallout Launcher window under 'Data Files'
SGD
Wow. How could I ask for more help? :D Thanks a heap. I'm thinking, once I get the model and everything sorted, I'll have some different types with different zooms, for scoping out near(ish) and far. This all stems because I was casing Evergreen Mills from up on the cliffs behind the place, and getting pretty pissed off because I couldn't zoom in far enough.
