Just throwing the idea out here

Right, this might be the pre-exam rambling that I seem to be doing, but I have an idea that I would like to develop further.

Im going to try mimic the idea of achievements/trophies for an expanded oblivion.

What I mean by achievements is a reward that you can display in your home, very much like the SI rewards in the throne room. They could be anything from a painting, shield or figure.

I was quite disappointed with the highly limited achievements in the 360 version. There seemed to be no reward for taking the time to do side quests. I plan to add these rewards to several quests such as the nirnroot quest and completing the arena.

Okay, so thats the first and probably easiest part of my idea, heres the next part : expanded oblivion. Theres alot of mods out there that are great. Unfortunately, some of the brilliant ideas are in there nature broken and unbalance the game. Even more take away the feel of sync with the game. I want to try make the game have some of the fantastic mods while maintaining that vanilla feeling. Some the mods I would like to include concern with the themes of life and death (druids and necros). This mod pack would input alot of the fantastic quests and gameplay changes with the "achievements".

I also want to increase the difficulty of the game by the following:

-Having the difficulty bar stuck at a certain level.

-CM_partners would be included, but the number of companions would be limited and NE.

-having a denial of leadership system (cant be leader of two guilds)

The idea is incomplete and in my head. If you have any suggestions, please give advice, it would be appreciated.

The problem with the idea is really two part.

First is trying to figure out how many different things you can track in game. The big disappointment with the whole SI thing was that those little things were only given for accomplishments in the main quest. The main quest should have been 1 or two of those, not a whole room. People should gain accomplishments for more unusual things, like eating 50 apples, getting sent to jail 100 times, having a bounty over 100k, killing 500 grummites/goblins, stuff like that. Start off with a list of 50 or 60 various things ranging from the usual "become a guild master of more than 2 guilds" to unusual things "Swim for 50 hours non-stop". Then with that list, go through each one, referring to the list of scripting functions, and determine which ones can, and which ones cannot be detected. This should take your list of 60 down to something like 12 or 15. Try to keep alterations to the world or creatures to a minimum.

The second problem is the value. It's nice that these accomplishments are done, but what incentive is there to doing them? The main part of this is either in creating new meshes for each accomplishment, or attaching some additional bonus to them. Like recieving/removing an ability for underwater breathing from the trophy for swimming for 50 hours. It doesn't need to be something too spectacular, just a little something to make having the mod worthwhile.

If you can work through both of these, all that remains is implementation of the idea. Just take one at a time, making use of all that pre-planning, and it shouldn't be any problem.
