AH1
I've noticed a lot of threads, both here and elsewhere, regarding a particular issue that seems uniquely related to Dragonborn--freezing. Now, I'm not talking about infinite loading screens or CTDs, those are always a problem in Skyrim and are more often than not related to mod troubles or a lack of system resources, but the game actually locking up, as in the actual picture on the screen freezing with no ability to interact, is something new I've not experienced before now? Why does this happen? If you are reading this hoping for an answer, I can't help you, because I simply do not know. I've read maybe three dozen threads on this spread across the Internet and I can't seem to find a common cause or root. Even XBox360 users are reporting it. For me, the trouble began the moment I tried to leave for Solstheim. When I talked to the captain at the Windhelm docks, my game immediately froze. No combination of mods, cleans saves, or new games seemed to fix this. Eventually, I did manage to make it to Solstheim, where I was greeted by more seemingly random freezes. Most often, the freezes occur around Ravenrock, but I've experienced them in several other areas. Once again, it doesn't seem to be mod related, nor are my save games corrupt. Does anyone have any insight into why this occurs, or how to avoid it? I've tried every trick in the book, from running while looking at the ground, to clearing invalid registrations and pcbing. It seems like just being in Solstheim is a recipe for freezes. Edited March 30, 2013 by AH1
