Onasaki
Hiya, I'm new to the site/forum. Probably won't be staying in the forum too long, but, I have a complaint. I've downloaded a couple mods, sure. But what I've realised, is that 99.6% of all the mods on this site are .RAR files. Why? I'm serious here, WHY are they .RAR files? Can you make them .zip? Seriously. It's annyoing, when you see a mod you want, but it turns out it's a .rar file. I DON'T WANT TO DOWNLOAD MORE THEN JUST THE MOD, is basicly what I'm saying here. For those who don't speak proper type... Translation: idont w4nt 2 dl mor den jus teh m0dz I'm sorry if I sound a bit of a jackass, but I'm tired of seeing mods on sites for newer games that are in .rar format. I don't -like- winrar, I don't -want- winrar on my computer. So, someone, please tell me, why they're all in .rar form? Thanks
SpeedyB64
--->Just Get This And You Will Never Have A Problem With This Again<--- Its 7zip it unpacks almost everything and is only a meg. Its free useful and good quality once you install this rightclick on the file and hit extract, or place the file in a folder and use "unpack here" (much faster imo)
Circuitous
RAR and 7z are used because they have better compression, which means smaller file sizes, ergo faster downloads. It's worth your time to get 7-zip for that reason alone.
deliverance6
i use .rar format for all my mods for the following reasons: .DDS files are big.Nif files are bigLots of folders are a pain and i need to keep the file structure intact during mod installation Therefor, whack the lot in a .rar and you can take 50mb worth of files down to a nice download friendly 20mb...AND the file structure remains intact. so yeh, .rar is for ppl who want to package files properly ready for an install (oh and if you look on the F3 DVD then all their files are .rar too ;) )
