Travelling back to Skyrim hands on loading screen.

As the topic says. I also know I'm not the only person with this issue. I'm just wondering if anyone knows how to solve it ?

 

The character I have is only level 23 and has done very little in the game apart from grabbing a quick Star of Azura and Meridia's Beacon quests - as well as going as far as the thalmor embassy in the main questline.

 

I cannot seem to fast travel, slow travel or COC myself without the load screen hang.

 

Any help appreciated.

Are you traveling back from Solstheim? If so, try cocing to a small interior cell in one of the major cities, such as Belethor's General Goods. From there, save your game (a new save), and then restart your game. Load the save and exit the cell, and you should be good. That's the only fix I can figure out right now. The freezes and silent CTDs Dragonborn causes seem to be unrelated to the typical problems of system resources and mods. But no one has proposed a good way to fix it. So we just have to make do.

Hey dude,

 

A load of us have had this problem, it's something to do with the way Skyrim re-loads your character when jumping back into regular Skyrim from Solstheim. Someone has mentioned that Skyrim seems to 'de-install' you from the mainland when going to Solstheim then some things can cause problems when it attempts to 're-install' you back again. Not sure what the implications are for any of that which is why I made a cheap work-around.

At this stage I probably wouldn't recommend using it as commentors have provided some excellent ideas which has helped me and others. I've compiled some on the main mod page and theres some more in the comments, it seems several mods are offendors. The problem seems to vary from an altered map related file causing problems to having large resolution textures; seems largely individual to each person but I hope it is of help.

 

If no ones ideas work you can always try the workaround, it's crude but it worked for me before I tried some of the other solutions.

Thanks both for your replies - I did try various cocing around (couldn't help myself) and nothing worked.

 

So instead I went on to read that thread which led me onto other threads. In the end after reading, I realised it was an issue with mods that changed graphics. I had heard earlier that it might be skeleton model issues, so I uninstalled CBBE - it did nothing.

 

I went through every single mod 5 at a time to narrow it down and finally got it down to Skyrim Flora Overhaul. For some reason my saved game just doesn't like it. I have no idea why. I might get back to skyrim now and save again, reinstall the mod (awesome mod) and see if I can travel back and forth again afterwards (to see if it's save-game specific or just really doesn't like the mod).

 

Anyhow, I can now get out of solstheim (whatever it's called).
