menofservice90
Hey, I've been having problems with FPS for my fallout new vegas for quite some time. It's only 20 - 30 FPS when looking at objects, but consistantly 60 FPS when looking at the sky or the ground. I do use mods, and when I do it goes down to around 15 - 25, but still sky rockets when looking at the ground or sky. I've tried everything I could find on online forums and web posts, I just don't know what to do anymore. I think it could be my RAM because I only have four Gigs and people who have eight Gigs run at twice the speed. I know a lot of people have fixed this problem before and I may not be trying hard enough but I've done everything in my ability to fix this and have thus failed so if anyone knows how to fix this please help me. (also it's not my computer thats causing it because I have a pretty beastly i5 ASUS computer that could probably run any game I use on it.) jazzisparis
It's only 20 - 30 FPS when looking at objects, but consistantly 60 FPS when looking at the sky or the ground. That's not really an indication of anything, since the game-engine uses occlusion, meaning that it does not actually render most objects not directly in your line of sight. 4GB should be enough to run the game quite smoothly (that is, unless your load order is as long as highway 20).I would first suggest that you use 4GB Fallout New Vegas, if you don't already.Second, try running the game with all other applications closed. It is possible that you have a great many of those, consuming much of your available physical memory.
menofservice90
Thank you for replying, but I do use 4GB FNV but it still has issues. but could non-active plugins in your load order cause issues as well because even when I dont use mods I still have problems. (I am somewhat new to modding, I only started about a year ago so I don't know absolutely every thing).
Ryuukage0101
I run fallout NV on a pretty bad Computer I manage to get 25 - 50 at best. ( which is fine for me). But I have noticed that the "actors" (people in the game) takes a huge amount of Memori so try to lower "actor fade and such" in the start-up launcher option
