Need some help with creating a WMX patch for my mod.

First post here, woohoo. Anyway, I could use a little help with creating a patch for Weapon Mods Expanded for my mod. All my mod does is change the names of weapons and such to more descriptive names, lore names, real-world equivalents, etc. I've gotten permission to make a patch for WMX, but I've been having some difficulty making things work. Note that I'm very new to the idea of actually creating mods, so I'm kinda inexperienced. Anyway, allow me to describe the problem in a little more detail.

The problem is basically every mod added by WMX I've tried thus far will not attach to its respective weapon. I haven't been able to actually have the main file for my mod as a master to the patch, as well as WMX. I did some reading, apparently it's due to a shortcoming of the G.E.C.K. or something, but I'm not entirely sure. The weapon mods are renamed but cannot be attached, with the exception of mods that are already in the vanilla game and DLCs, which will attach. I know from my experience with using WMX and fooling around with load orders and such that it generally conflicts with other mods. I've had a number of times where several mods weren't able to attach due to load order issues. If I had to take a guess, there's a conflict somewhere, or it's a load order problem. But I don't know. Every little bit of information helps.

Please see the wiki article "Compatibility Patching" for the basic process. There is also the "Multiple file Merge-Up Procedure" article for a more complex example with three "master" plugins for the patch.

If all you are doing is changing the names that are displayed, you should probably be able to do that in FNVEdit (manual: Tome of xEdit) with your own mod being the "compatibility patch". However, bear in mind that other mods that patch WMX may not work correctly without their own "compat patch".

Before investing a lot of time in such a project, you might want to see how popular the other mods that alter the names of game weapons are in terms of the ratio of endorsements to downloads. But it is a good learning experience for a novice modder.
