Spell request: Bloodstar (as seen in Diablo I)

Since I'm a complete noob in scripting, but would like to have my companion casting a custom spell, I would like to make this request.

 

Maybe some of you remember playing Diablo I in the mid-90's and all that fun in the later hell-dungeons, all those Doom Guards, Hell Spawns, Advocates etc. :D

As for myself, the game had a major impact on my life and my tastes :D so every now and then I like those contents in other fantasy games with an adequate platform... like Oblivion :)

 

So I'm talking about a destruction type ranged spell that resembles the Bloodstar projectile casted by succubi and the like.

It should function pretty similar to the vanilla firebolt-spell. Obviously the graphics differ - if possible to look like that twitching red star with a red lightsource. If it's required I may gladly come up with texturing and the original casting-sounds!

The damage output would have to be not that high and the velocity low, so the enemy has a chance to avoid the projectiles. It's supposed to be spammed. ;)

Is this simply about the look/sounds, or is there a specific type of damage you are looking for?

 

I already have a "blood orb" particle that I'll be using in a part of my mod, but there will be various spell effects using the particle. Can you give me some specifics on the type of damage?

I think its a spamming weak spell, if I remember correctly it was non-elemental (basically a damage health).

That's right - there is no elemental effect on this, just plain health damage. About the amount of damage dealt; I'm not so sure about that, but it should be pretty low as said before. I think the firebolt spells are a good orientation, maybe a little more than the weakest avaible firebolt spell at a low cost of magicka. I'm sorry, I don't have any specific data, but maybe you get the idea :)

 

It is supposed that the companion casts continously that spell from background, when engaging close combat he/she draws weapon.

 

I think about a possibilty to add a little draining effect to this, maybe demoralize a small amount (like 5-10) for 1-2 secs :D

Just for clarification....this is a spell that companions would have, not the player?

I'll see what I can work in. It may not be the exact same thing, but very similar. I'm thinking of making a ring or amulet that you can give to a companion to add the spell to their list.

 

Would you like the spell to be double-sided (i.e. damage enemies and heal the player/companions)?

Oh, that sounds very promising! I'm looking excitedly forward to it ;D

 

Yeah, it would be great if succesful hits would heal the companion for a small amount :yes: To make an enchanted ring is a great idea (hadn't thought about the way to "teach" it to the companion indeed :sweat: ) - i hope this way it get's quite handy to use! :thumbsup:

No Problem! I can't give you a release time since the mod I'm working on is huge, but I WILL include it even if someone else comes out with a stand-alone version.
