Styger
I seem to be full of bugs and glitches this week! In my current playthrough, I don't have any music. The music that should be playing does play during the loading screen, but then cuts to silence when the game fully loads. If I alt-tab out and back in, the Dragon combat music will, without fail, begin playing regardless of a dragon in the vicinity. The only sound mods I have used, and am using, during this playthrough is the Sound Propagation mod found at the link below. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33740/ I've disabled and uninstalled to no effect. I have also verified the game cache several times (at one point downloading 7 files). I've run boss, cleaned several unrelated files, but no go. Has anyone else experienced this error before and found a fix? My search turned up nil. Edit: 4/1/13 - 10:30I've now lost all menu sounds across all saves... even in my main menu... this is after I disabled the mod in question completely. Bear in mind, only one save was using the mod, the others were fairly clean. Not an issue for this point now. Edit: 4/1/13 - 11:09I did the alt-tab bit and had the Dragon Combat music start playing. I let it play all the way through and then the area appropriate music began. I got excited for a moment, and so I saved and reloaded to see if it worked. After reloading, there was no music at all again, and alt-tabbing just resulted in the Dragon combat music once more. Styger
Quick update: I entered Shor's Hall where the Sovngarde chant began to play. If music would only play once throughout my game, I'm glad it was here. However, as soon as I excited the Hall to finish Alduin, the music went into complete silence. Styger
Just use the console: Stop Combat Alarm on PlayerStop CombatTried that already, doesn't work. Even when I alt-tabbed to the dragon combat music, nothing changed. I waited an hour and changed areas. Nothing.

izon87604
I am also having this issue. just started the other day. didnt notice at first then suddenly everything just seemed really quiet. i have gone through the same process as you to fix it but to no avail. i have even deactivated all mods and then loaded and no music plays. i saw one thing on another forum that said that music wasnt playing due to their game being too heavily modded (but this was in relation to the FMO mod so may not apply here). the only other options i can think of are a full reinstall, which i want to avoid. Or to reset the ini files. will let you guys know any progress Update - i reset the ini files and no change (music plays for 2-3 seconds on loading then just fades and stops.) i deleted some save files (this some times improves performance) but nothing. :( bad times Edited April 5, 2013 by izon87604
CandyR27
I had this problem recently as well. It drove me crazy but I saw this fix in a forum and it worked for me. It calls for you to edit your Skyrim.ini file. Your ini likely looks like this: [Archive]sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Textures.bsa, HighResTexturePack01.bsa, HighResTexturePack02.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsasResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa Move Skyrim-Sounds.bsa from SResourceArchiveList=Skyrim to the second line sResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim after Skyrim-VoicesExtra.bsa So when you're done it will look like: [Archive]sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Textures.bsa, HighResTexturePack01.bsa, HighResTexturePack02.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsasResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa Good luck. P.S. If you're not using any of Bethesda's Hi Res packs then those won't show up in your ini file. Nothing to be worried about if you don't see them there. Perhaps there's a commonality, hopefully.
