SgtKelly
Im working on a music mod combining music from Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics (mostly combat tracks). The things problem is that Fallout 3 slows down after some time of playing these songs and sometimes these slowdowns freeze the game. I read somewhere that Fallout 3 couldn't well handle a. large music files, b. large amounts of music files and c. different bit rates on the soundfiles. The question is: Could the bit rates be the problem? If so, what bit rate should I use and is there a way to convert music files from one bit rate to another? PimpBot420
I don't have much experience with the game music outside of the radios, but for the radios, the WAV files do seem to need a specific bitrate. However, I haven't seen any problems with MP3's of varying bitrates. GNR, for example, uses stereo MP3 and mono WAV files. It also has mono MP3 files, but I havent been able to find out what they are used for. The default audio file qualities for radio stations are as below:MP3 - Stereo, 192kHzMP3 - Mono, 96kHzWAV - Mono, 16bits, 22050Hz More specifically, when I had WAV files with a sampling rate of 4bits, they would not play. I've tried 22kHz vs 44kHz with noticing any problem. One free tool you can use to convert bitrates quickly is MeowMultiSound. I like it because it allows you to convert a large number of files at once.Download MeowMultiSound here.
