How do you do glow maps in GECK

I have search the forums and found a few tutorials on getting glow maps to work with NifSkope but I am lazy and don't want to bother using it or, at least, I want to also know how to do it in GECK. Using GECK I have duplicated some power armor and gave it new texture and other goodies. So now I want some glowing effects... I tried creating a glow map (newpowerarmor_g.dds). I then went to the texture file and used this map under Glow/Skin/Hair... But nothing...

In the glow map, I assume I can use whatever color I want to highlight the glowing areas (with background black).

Any ideas how to get it working?

EDIT:

After searching the trouble shooting forum (I probably should have started there but thought this was more of a tutorial thing and not debugging) the following thread seems to indicate that I just place a filename_g.dds file in the same folder with my filename.dds and the game will do the rest. Here is the other thread I was talking about:

This method, however, does not appear to work.

Try cranking up the EmitMulti setting up under NiMaterialProperty for the relevant NiTripStrips in NifSkope. If the EmitMulti is equal to or less than 1, I don't think item will glow despite having a glowmap associated with it.
