dfg209
Just a quick question, is there modding tools such as the GECK available for the PS3 version?
Saphireking65
no, nor will there ever be.
deliverance6
indeed... there will never be a construction set for PS3 or Xbox. bethsoft much prefer to make console owners pay for DLC content so they can limit complaints etc over user created content not functioning properly

deliverance6
because you need a mouse and keyboard to use the current CS. its built for windows based rigs. PS and Xbox arent windows based, the file structure's are differant and it would be a hell of a task to port it to another platform. they refuse to even make an apple mac version of it so that gives you an idea of bethsoft's mind frame. that and sony and Microsoft really dont like user created content because they're essentially losing money. while bethsoft are willing to admit that if they dont release a Construction set with games ppl will find a way around it (such as texture replacements etc) so instead they bundle up the GECK for release and let people make what they want. it is possible to get user created content onto a ps3/xbox using the PC version of the geck but it requires some hefty hardware modding and is probly more effort than its worth unless you're desperate to cannabalise you're console and splice it with a PC *also, iirc Xbox and PS3 harddrives spin backwards lol. which plays havok with anything not specifically built for it
maYuYang
you actually could get it working if you install linux on your ps3, then wine and let GECK run through wine. Only works in theory, but you could test it if you dare
dfg209
@maYuYangWhat are the possible errors or problems that could be encountered? I was thinking. If you used the GECK on your computer, then could you transfer the file(s) or such via a USB Flash drive?Would that work?
maYuYang
no, I doubt it(your last question). As I said, theoratically, you could get GECK to run on your PS3, but modding and installing mods are 2 completely different stories. The only way I can imagine that this could work(FO3, GECK, mods, modding) is to turn your PS3 into a console PC by installing linux on it. Then, you could install the PC FO3 with wine and install the mods similar to how you'd do it on a PC. Since I'm not that familiar with the PS3, I don't know if that would overthrough the PS3 as a console. But transferring mods from PC to PS3 will never work. Afaik, the architecture of FO3 on PS3 is completely different than on the PC. The same question appeared when Oblivion was published for consoles. As long as you don't have an OS in which you can manipulate several things on the PS3, modding like we(PC users) do will never work.
Tommo120
Bethesda could have made it work if they wanted to, might have been an extra bit of work but Epic did it with UT3 on the PS3. Make the stuff like you normally would and export it to a PS3 format and stick it on your PS3.
