Vortex is freezing and have to close with Task Manager

So this happened after I got a notification to update extensions. Clicked restart as it required, now when Vortex starts, it just freezes with this message box:

 

 

 

Failed to Connect to Meta Database

 

Please check that there is no other instance of Vortex still running.

 

IO error: LockFile C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\metadb/LOCK: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

 

 

There is a retry button (which I've used, but just get the same error), and a quit button, which just closes the program.

 

 

And many times, Vortex just freezes solid and I can't interact with the popup error message box.

 

 

I can't figure out what is causing this, nor can I seem to fix it. Have tried restarting PC, but that has no effect. Task Manager shows only one instance of Vortex running, so I'm really at a loss here what to do.

 

Any help would be appreciated. Have current version 1.3.22

Hey, I was able to successfully click the Retry Button on the error message box, and it finally updated, so Vortex is working fine now (of course, right after I make that above post).

 

Would still like to know what exactly that error message means, in case it happens again.

 

Is it because there was a failed connection to Nexus Mods?
