Sankese Posted February 4, 2021 Share Posted February 4, 2021 (edited) Hello!I am wondering how to create a fully-voiced custom follower in Skyrim SE.I have his .fbx for his head, and his .fbx for his body which are both already rigged. I have put him into VRChat, DMC5, and MMD. I really want him to be my Skyrim follower, but I am completely 100% new to modding Bethesda engine games.If someone could give me a guide to make a completely custom body-head follower, thank you!Please help me D: Thank you for your time,Sankese :D ps i have attached what he looks like below. Adventurer1111 Posted February 6, 2021 Share Posted February 6, 2021 (edited) Custom NPC / Monster/ head/follower is no easy task and it is great that you are taking this on...so here is how I do it (high level) which I am warning you now is probably wrong because I had to teach myself. You will need the following software: Creation Kit SSE (from Bethesda) BAE Extracter (to open existing BSA files and export the .NIFs)NifSkope to adjust the NifOutfit Studio to copy bone weights 1. Extract the NIF files using BAE to a reference library folder2. Find a NIF file that is roughly the same as what you are making (ie. Head or Male Body or dog) Creation Kit3. Copy your reference NIF to your DATA directory4. Make a mod .esp file and copy all form files that point to your reference NIF and rename for your new modelIMPORTANT: Keep all game files the same and only change copies of files.5. Point to your reference NIF now named as your model - You will need this later to check out your model in game6. Create a character in Creation Kit7. Place new character in game Outfit Studio (aka Weight Painting - Only slightly less fun than a painful splinter that you can't get to no matter what OR the bane of my existence)8. Import the FBX file in Outfit Studio along with your reference NIF file9. Set your NIF file as the reference 10. Align your model as closely as possible to the reference NIF and copy bone weights and make sure feet/hands are as close as possible11. Once the bone weighting is done you can delete the reference otherwise it will show up with your model12. Export your model as NIF13. Test in game.14. Cry cause the weight painting is still off and repeat bone weighting to infinity and beyond... You will have to research on how to do each step obviously but at a high level, this is what I use. I would recommend YouTube videos and a few Google searches. I would also recommend YouTube videos on voicing a custom follower. The hardest part of your project will be the custom head and body IMHO.
