USSVagrant
So, I have a bunch of mods installed. I won't bother you all with a list of them unless you think it's necessary -- basically, one of them is malfunctioning, and my VATS targetting is screwed up -- the percentages to hit on legs and arms is higher than the % chance to hit the torso or head. It's starting to get annoying, and I need help -- how do I figure out which of these mods is causing the issue without going through and manually disabling them one by one? Rob7937
Yo there: Sorry, you may indeed have to do just that. Well, it's a painful lesson and I too have experienced similar behaviours with Oblivion. Too many Mods too fast. My first suggestion is to keep a log of installed Mods, their IDs, any updates, and the date you install them. Use a word doc, a spreadsheet or heck, even a simple text file. Don't test more than couple of Mods at a time. (Some will say only test one at a time.) And try not to add similar type Mods all at the same time. (I'm a weapons buff and still have trouble with those decisions!) Try this: When did you notice this happening? What Mods had you just installed when you noticed this behavior? Try un-installing that or those Mods first. Do any of the Mods you've installed have anything to even remotely do with this behavior? If yes, un-install that Mod/s and re-check your Game. If this isn't possible, you could try un-installing a couple of Mods at a time and then re-check. Are you using FOMM and/or FOSE and Archive Invalidate? They've all been recently updated. Have you checked recently if your Mods have been updated? How about any 'utility' FO3 Mods/programs you've installed? Are you using the Fallout 3 Mod installer? Where is the Fallout 3 game installed? C:/FO3 or C:/Programs/FO3? If you are using Vista, you can not install it in C:/Programs. BethSoft just released the FO3 PC update 1.1.0.35, did you install that? Some people have reported having to move the FO3 esm file back to the top of the lineup. Hopefully I've given you an idea or two. Please post back as it could certainly help someone else with similar problems. Good luck, Bob
nbanyan
I've experienced a similar bug where occasionally the VATS chance to hit is the same for all body parts (antenna, torso, legs, etc.) Sometimes this even occurs when I can't see half of the NPC (20% chance to hit a leg that's behind a wall?!?). At first I thought it was a bug with one of the mods I'm using, but since I use a lot of mods I decided to see if I get the problem if I run the game without mods. And I was able to get the accuracy bug with all mods turned off. I also occasionally have the bug where I have a 0% chance to hit in vats using an unarmed weapon against NPCs that are in my face (too close to punch?) Haven't bothered to try finding that but with mods turned off. While I haven't seen chance to hit arms higher than torso, it sounds related. If you still get the error after disabling all mods, then it's likely a vanilla bug. Edit: Just today I read some posts complaining about patch 1.1 trashing VATS in general. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the game to remove the patches and tried the saved game again (a spot where I could reliably recreate my VATS bug). And the accuracies looked good. So I installed the .15 patch. And accuracies where good (added the occasional permanent random full screen texture blocking the screen bug though). So, I guess I'll stick with .15 until the next patch is ready.
