Sunaris
This was an older post from '03, but I had the same question, and since there were no replies I thought I'd ask again since we have another year of experience with the CS... I really want to create a new soul gem for the game. Something ideally larger than even a grand soul gem. I already like the distribution of gems, but I'd rather not go back and edit all the values of the lower gems to mnake a better distribution. Obviously, the game needs to know that the item is a soul gem so my question is simply: How do I tell it this?
Marxist ßastard
The properties of soulgems are hardcoded. Thus, you can't do something like that seamlessly without a script extender. The best thing you can do -- without an external application running, that is -- is script things so that your new soulgem will split up into two grand soulgems upon PC equip and then automatically equip each soulgem in battery. However, this means that enchanter services will be borked -- the PC must do enchanting on his own when he wants to use the gem. This also means that the PC cannot use the full soulgem on a single enchantment, and that he cannot actually capture souls with it.
Alexander the Great
That makes a great soulgem...........not. Thats just not very helpful, but i agree. That would be pretty much the only way.
