sigmasix06
Was playing a new playthrough of New Vegas, heavily modded, when I started noticing weird LOD issues, and after a lot of tinkering, I got it to this point: https://imgur.com/a/EXHKHKu My current load order is as follows:00 FalloutNV.esm01 DeadMoney.esm02 HonestHearts.esm03 OldWorldBlues.esm04 LonesomeRoad.esm05 GunRunnersArsenal.esm06 ClassicPack.esm07 MercenaryPack.esm08 TribalPack.esm09 CaravanPack.esmxx A Better Cass.espxx A Better Veronica.espxx ADAM - MERGE.espxx ADAM - Trooper Gloves.espxx ADAM Complete.espxx ARESproject.espxx ArmedToTheTeeth-NewVegas.espxx Asurah_LeatherGloves.espxx BigIronRadio.espxx Bitter Springs Redesigned.espxx BR_MeatPrepAnimations.espxx BraveNewWorld-FPGE.espxx BraveNewWorld-JSU.espxx BraveNewWorld-OutsideBets.espxx BraveNewWorld-UncutWastelandNPCs.espxx BraveNewWorld-YUP.espxx BraveNewWorld.esmxx CASM with MCM.espxx CESxDLC.espxx classicambientmusic.espxx CoitoErgoSum.esmxx Cyberware OWB.espxx Cyberware.esmxx D.E.I.M.O.S..esmxx Daughters of Ares - CouriersStash.espxx Daughters of Ares.espxx DEagle.espxx delilah.espxx Donta1979 MK117 Prototype Armor.espxx Dreaming OWBRE.espxx enclavebunker.esmxx Enhanced Vision.espxx FCO - Delilah.espxx FCO - Willow (Cazy).espxx FCO - Willow.espxx FCOMaster.esmxx FlashlightNVSE.espxx FNVLODGen.espxx Frontier - Arachnophobia Patch.espxx Frontier - Enable Slaves Harbour.espxx Functional Post Game Ending - General Open Strip Patch.espxx Functional Post Game Ending - Outside Bets Patch.espxx Functional Post Game Ending - YUP Patch.espxx Functional Post Game Ending.esmxx Gomorrah Redesigned v2.espxx Goodsprings Reborn.espxx HiddenValleyOverhauled1.2.espxx hz_1 by 1 Reload Fix.espxx hz_Automatic Weapons Fix.espxx ILO - D.E.I.M.O.S.espxx ILO - GS Shack.espxx ILO - New Vegas Bounties II.espxx ILO - New Vegas Bounties.espxx ILO - NVWillow.espxx ILO - PipBoy Light.espxx ILO - Rust Town 2.espxx ILO - YUP Patch.espxx IMPACT.espxx Interior Lighting Overhaul - Core.esmxx Interior Lighting Overhaul - L38PS.esmxx Interior Lighting Overhaul - Ultimate Edition.espxx JIP Companions Command & Control.espxx JIP Improved Recipe Menu.espxx JIP MiniMap.espxx JSawyer Ultimate.espxx Just_Enough_Realism_Loading_Screen_Tips.espxx JustAssortedMods.espxx KingOfTheRing.espxx Less Empty Nellis.espxx Less Empty Primm.espxx Logic and Consistency Fixes.espxx Lucky38Overhaul.espxx Lucky38Reloadedv5.espxx merchantammo-GRA.espxx merchantammo.espxx MigTFtweaks.espxx Military Explansion Program.esmxx MojaveDelight.espxx MoonQuest.esmxx MoreMojave.esmxx MuchNeededLOD.espxx nellisAFBrestored.espxx New Vegas Redesigned 3 Path Fixing.espxx New Vegas Redesigned 3.esmxx New Vegas Redesigned 3.espxx NewlineTown_NV.esmxx NewVegasBounties.espxx NewVegasBountiesII.espxx NewVegasBountiesIII.espxx NewVegasKiller.espxx NewVegasRedesignedType4-Patch.espxx NewVegasUncut Merged.espxx NiptonRebuilt.espxx Novac Reborn.espxx NukaCola-Ojo.espxx NVNovacApartament.espxx NVR-NPCs.espxx NVR-Strip.esmxx NVR-Version_10.espxx NVR3_ADAMTrooperGloves Patch.espxx NVR3_JSU Patch.espxx NVR3_OutsideBets Patch.espxx NVR3_UncutWastelandPlusNPCs Patch.espxx NVR3_YUP Patch.espxx NVWillow.espxx oHUD.esmxx originalintro.espxx outsidebets.espxx Power Armor Training Perk.espxx Ragdolls.esmxx RealisticAmmo.espxx Reload Sounds.espxx RustTownAdditions3.espxx RustTownV1Master.esmxx Simple DLC Delay.espxx simpler-realism-fnv.espxx Simply Uncut - New Vegas.espxx SomeguySeries.esmxx Sortomatic.esmxx SU-NV The March West.espxx T4-plugin.espxx TFHotfix.espxx TGMIO.esmxx The Frontier.esmxx The Mod Configuration Menu.espxx The New Bison Steve Hotel.esmxx The Weapon Mod Menu.espxx TheBetterAngels.espxx TheFrontierDistantFogPatch.espxx TheFrontierReCut - Map.espxx TheFrontierReCut - Torture.espxx TheInheritance.espxx tmzLODadditions.espxx Ultimate Invisible Wall Remover.espxx Uncut Wasteland.espxx Unofficial Patch NVSE.espxx UWHNV-Addon-DLC.espxx UWHNV-Addon-FollowerHome.espxx UWHNV-Addon-GRA.espxx UWHNV-Core.esmxx VanessaFollowerNV.esmxx Vanilla UI Plus.espxx Weapon Retexture Project.espxx Weapons.of.the.New.Millenia.esmxx Weapons.of.the.New.Millenia.Honest.Hearts.Grunt.Patch.espxx Weapons.of.the.New.Millenia.Leveled.Lists.espxx Weapons.of.the.New.Millenia.Store.espxx WFO - Vanilla.espxx Willow by Dracomies v2.espxx WMIMNV.espxx YUP - Base Game + All DLC.esmxx YUP - NPC Fixes (Base Game + All DLC).esp As you can tell by FNVLODGen.esp, I have used LOD generation for this installation, and it's currently installed which helped slightly in the issue, but hasn't resolved it. I have followed guidelines in the general mod use advice wiki page, and it hasn't cleared up anything. Open to anything, this graphical issue is unplayable honestly. dubiousintent
Unfortunately the "load order" doesn't list VWD/LOD files because they are "special handling" texture files. But they come in two varieties: VWD (usually "landscape") and LOD (usually low detail "objects", which can include buildings and cities, placed in the distant landscapes). The distance at which VWD/LOD kicks in can actually be fairly closeup. Depends upon the available mipmaps (I believe). I personally always seem to have trouble making out what people find "wrong" in an image (marking up a screenshot would help immensely), but to me it appears the only thing is the two "antenna dishes" without apparent supports in the right half skyline of the first image, and the (possibly windmills?) in the mid range right half of the lower image. In both instances those appear to be LOD objects and it means the MipMap detail of those objects has reduced so low at that distance as to produce that result. (Missing "support structures" of power line towers, lightpoles, signs, etc., at a distance is a common problem in FNV.) A better quality LOD image is the only solution as that is something FNVLODGen cannot fix. There are some mods that attempt to provide such improved LOD objects, but they are not "tagged' as such that I have found. You pretty much have to check in the files for one matching the object in question under appropriate folders as they are seldom mentioned in descriptions. Objects LOD - any static object: houses, shacks, rocks, cliffs, etc contained in filesMeshes\Landscape\LOD\<Worldspace>\Blocks\*.NIFTextures\Landscape\LOD\<Worldspace>\Blocks\*.DDSBoth terrain and objects LOD files are actually large nif macromeshes that can be opened with NifScope. FNVLODGen generates objects LOD files from separate small lod meshes for each static object in game that have them, they have the same name and location as the full detail model with _lod.nif suffix. In the case of MipMaps you can try to use the tool "Optimizer Textures" to fix it yourself. -Dubious- Edited February 10, 2021 by dubiousintent
