omarfouad64
Today I started a new game (testing mods) & it was working well, after some new mods. I started a new game to apply & now I am stuck on doors of helgen, they wouldn't open & also I am placed instead of my carriage driver in 1st person. I thought it might be bug due to first person horse mod or FPS improvements mods so I removed all of these & I'm still stuck, any helppp PLZ? I've been trying all day to activate FNIS mod with Player exclusive animations & Skyrim worked without, I check MCM & the animation mod is working but Skyrim isn't.I appreciate having luck as a friend
Moraelin
Hmm, I only had that if I have Helgen Reborn active when I start Skyrim. Well, or at least the ancient version of it that I have. They may have fixed it in the meantime, but I never checked. Anyway, same would apply for any other mods that cause a problem. Unless it's a race mod, you don't really need it active right from the start. You can just start the game without most mods that you don't absolutely need in Helgen (such as, again, race mods,) get to Riverwood, and then get around to activating them one by one. Gorgopis
For what it's worth, two weeks ago, I also experienced this famous first-person-stuck-as-cart-driver glitch in the opening scene--but on Skyrim LE, not on Skyrim SE. Elsewhere on this forum site, search "Flipping Cart Intro" or "Glitched Intro" intro to see tons of commentary about versions of this famous glitch with modded Skyrim. This happened to me after enabling a new Vortex Mod-profile two weeks ago. BTW, I have never used Helgen Reborn. I set the new profile to no mods enabled, and still got a tame version of the glitch. I was able to get this barely-tolerable intro by disabling all mods first, before starting the game. The cart still flipped around, but I was no longer looking from the driver's seat. I had to control the point of view to keep the horses aimed at the road, with my mouse movements. Once the cart got through Helgen's gate it still got stuck at the wall, and the NPC's could not leave the cart. Somehow, I don't remember how, though, I got to the first autosave, and then I quit the game and reloaded that, to get past the headsman and finally enter Helgen Keep. Once in there, I made a save. Then I enabled all mods, and the game is working. I recently purchased Skyrim SE, but am nervous to start it, because I fear that I will get the glitched intro, and have to go through all that again. I will try tomorrow, and start SE with no mods enabled, to see if it's stable. I suspect SKSE and SkyUI may also be involved. Forum theories also suggest that the in-game FPS or video-card Verrtical Sync., or your computer-monitor Hz. speeds along with your Skyrim FPS settings may be involved. GL! Moraelin
Can't say I had it in SE either, unless some mod was interfering with it. Again, I would advise you to start a game without any mods except race mods. Technically even SKSE or SkyUI aren't needed at this point, unless your race mods say they need SKSE. Hell, even race mods you can add after the cart stops and the game drops that first hard save in Helgen, if you're paranoid.
Gorgopis
After all this time, users are still reporting the Cart-Intro-Troubles Issue, as late as 2021, on Skyrim SE, as visits to these forums will attest. @Moraelin's advice to start without any Mods installed or enabled is sound. You can enable them after you get past the Intro. Thus, we hope this proactive post helps some users. Here's our story testing the Intro-Issue--(which results from having too many "script-heavy" mods installed?): We recently purchased Skyrim SE on STEAM and installed it on partition E on our PC, to keep it away from our PC's program files. Next, before starting a new game and playing, we started Vortex, and, without adding or installing any mods through Vortex, we cloned the first Skyrim SE profile twice, and named these second and third Skyrim profiles "SRSE Vanilla1/Vanilla 2", respectively, and enabled save games on both. We did not install SKSE or SKyUI (yet). With zero mods installed, but STILL LOGGED INTO STEAM, we started up Skyrim SE on the Vanilla 1 profile, and watched through the Intro, successfully, without a single issue. Naturally, we saved a game (we made a hard-save, never make a quick save), once our character entered inside Helgen Keep--and then we quit the game. @Moraelin calls it dropping that "first hard save in Helgen" and we firmly agree you should make that hard save. Afterward, we logged off STEAM, and started up SE again, and tested our saved game, which was fine and we could continue. We quit the game, so we could now install our mods through Vortex. What we haven't tried yet is starting a brand new game, from the get-go, offline from STEAM/Vortex. We intend to use our Vanilla 2 profile to test that offline-from-STEAM/Vortex preference, still with NO mods installed. Before we do, we will clone Vanilla 2, name it "SRSE Mod Pack," play the Intro through on Vanilla 2 with no Mods installed, all offline, and see what happens. We expect it to be fine. We won't touch our Skyrim first-install Vortex iteration at all. We believe this method avoids foreseeable Cart-Intro issues.
