Crenge
Hi, Could anyone please, please do one of the below: 1) provide an idiot-proof example list for the most common mods 2) provide an actual working BOSS download link with idiot-proof instructions how to use it 3) provide any and all hints regarding the above for NMM or Wrye Bash 4) What is TES4Edit, where can I get it and how do I use it? I already installed the mods with NMM and that's pretty much all, Wrye Bash gave me a report (with the mod checker) that a few mods need leaning with TES4Edit, a few should be merged (?) and that 2 or 3 have missing or corrupted masters. At the moment I have nothign that coudl help me with the mod order. And please, whatever you do, don't post link to "guides" or official "how to's", or the favourite "The answer is already on the forum". I spent the last 2 days on the internet looking for these things, and even if I already found them and you will link them again to show I'm just wasting everybody's time, I didn't understand how to use them. I'm no programmer / IT guy / Computer specialist. I just found a few mods, would like to use them in my game, that's all. Thanks in advance. ripple
Hi, Could anyone please, please do one of the below: 1) provide an idiot-proof example list for the most common mods 2) provide an actual working BOSS download link with idiot-proof instructions how to use it 3) provide any and all hints regarding the above for NMM or Wrye Bash 4) What is TES4Edit, where can I get it and how do I use it?1) Search for BOSS on the Nexus downloads. When you find the page, there will be no direct download link. Click on 'mirrior' and it will take you to the BOSS Google page where you can download the latest version of BOSS. 2) Install and run BOSS per instruction (post back if you get stuck or need clarification). 3) Read the BOSS log and see if any plugins require your attention. For example, you will likely see messages telling you that some plugins contain 'dirty edits' and need to be cleaned using TES5Edit, which leads to your question 4).... 4) Download TES5Edit from the link indicated in your BOSS log. On that page, there are also instructions on how to clean plugins with 'dirty edits', including a video tutorial by Gopher. Remember you will need to remove identical to master entries as well as undelete/disable deleted references (this one is more important CTD-prevention wise). For now, clean only the plugins flagged by BOSS as containing 'dirty edits.' 5) After you have done all of that, run BOSS again, and copy/paste the new BOSS log here (with the messages about bash tags, etc.), including the list of plugins not recognized by BOSS if one is generated. Enclose them in spoiler tags so they don't clutter the screen, and we'll take a look and let you know if anything else needs to be done.

Crenge
Ok I'm cleaning the mods now, but there is one thign I'm concerned about:while cleaning both dawnguard.esm and dragonborn.esm, after I click the "apply filter for cleaning", the background of skyrim.esm, update.esm and the respective dlc's .esm turns pink and the font turns: skyrim - purple, update - red, dlc - orange'ish. Also, when I did it for Dragonborn I got this:<Warning: Unused data in: \ [00] Skyrim.esm \ [58] GRUP Top "WRLD" \ [11] GRUP World Children of CWTestHold "Avoidance Exterior" [WRLD:0001B44A] \ [2] GRUP Exterior Cell Block 0, 0 \ [0] GRUP Exterior Cell Sub-Block 0, 0 \ [18] TestCWHoldStart [CELL:0001B513] (in CWTestHold "Avoidance Exterior" [WRLD:0001B44A] at 0,0) \ [3] DATA - Flags><Warning: Unused data in: \ [00] Skyrim.esm \ [58] GRUP Top "WRLD" \ [11] GRUP World Children of CWTestHold "Avoidance Exterior" [WRLD:0001B44A] \ [0] [CELL:0001B4C6] (in CWTestHold "Avoidance Exterior" [WRLD:0001B44A] at 0,0) \ [2] DATA - Flags>Not sure what it means, but I'm moving on with the cleaning. Crenge
<p>Did the spoiler thing work? I see the normal text on my screen...</p><p> </p><p>Edit: One more question: I noticed that the mods used to change cities like Sexy Riften and so on, do not appear on the list. Is it normal for these mods or not? Because The Undercity mod (creating a new city) appears properly, so does to some extent the Falkareth mod (unrecognized).</p> Edit 2: why do these <p> things appear after edits and how can I get rid of them? They might have appeared in my previous posts and they make them really untidy to read. Edited April 10, 2013 by Crenge
ripple
I thought Headbomb updated his sorting mod? Have you checked the mod page to see if there is an updated version that does not give you those 'this was make with a pre-CK tool' errors? If I am incorrect and he has not updated the sorting mod, then you should uninstall them. Error records will cause CTD. 'Sexy Rift': I believe that's a texture replacer, so it doesn't come with a plugin because the textures are loose files and will 'override' default game textures bundled in the BSA which they are intended to 'replace.' Some texture/mesh replacers do not come with esp's or esm's because the resources are kept in loose files and are intended to replace default game resources. The forums 'upgraded' recently and the formatting gets trashed sometimes when you try to update your posts. I believe Dark0ne is working on it, hopefully it'll get fixed soon. Crenge
Thanks for the answers, much appreciated. Yes, he did update them, I even followed the link from BOSS to download the newest, clean version and I installed it, but I got exactly the same message. I'm going to try again though. Means I'm left with those Bash Tag Suggestions. I tried to look it up, as far as I understand I should put them all in a Merged Patch? Wrye Bash had an option to do that I think but I'm not sure about the details.
ripple
If you have both BOSS and Wrye Bash installed, the first time you run BOSS the plugins in your load order will be tagged accordingly. So the bash tag suggestions listed in BOSS do not require any user intervention other than to verify that those plugins have indeed been tagged accordingly (by checking out their tags, if any, in Wrye Bash). Aren't you already using a Bashed Patch? Do you make sure to rebuild it every time you adjust your load order (e.g. after running BOSS)?
Crenge
Sorry, been a way for a bit, everything with the technical side of the mods is working perfectly, thank you very much for all the help. Now I'm weeding out the in-game problems the mods might be causing (had 2 bandits spawn into almost 20 in one of the hideouts, one with Kematu) and since the changes I made both in ASIS and SkyrimMoreSpawns didn't seem to work I just kicked out ASIS, deleted all my save games and I'm going to start fresh. Hope this works.
